It is designed to stick well to jointing tape, to shrink very little, and to sand easily as a topcoat. You can use it for every coat of a three-coat joint or as a base coat only. If you use it for all three coats with an open-weave fibreglass tape such as FibaFuse, you can sand the topcoat on the same day once it has dried enough. Let the compound dry fully, then sand the topcoat smooth before you prime and paint. Throw away any mixed compound you have not used.
