SELLEYS LIQUID NAILS Original is a premium grade multi-purpose construction adhesive that delivers a consistently strong and lasting bond on most building materials. Shrinkage and thermal movement in buildings can cause bonds to weaken over time, but Liquid Nails is flexible enough to response to movement allowing a strong bond to be maintained over time. Features Strong bond – which will cope with shrinkage and thermal movement, so you know the job will last. Adheres well to wet and dry timber, so there is no need to wait for the timber to dry. Selleys Liquid Nails Rapid Cure is an advanced, high-performance polyurethane construction adhesive that cures in just 10 minutes*. It provides a durable, waterproof bond even when bonding two non-porous surfaces. Features Fast cure in 10 minutes*. More than twice the strength of conventional solvent-based construction adhesives. Waterproof – Uncompromising durability, with excellent water, weather and heat resistance. Can be used to bond most materials, and for most interior & exterior applications. Its advanced formulation exceeds the requirements of BS-EN204 D4 for durability. Resistant (after full cure) to heat to 100 degrees C and cold to -30 degrees C. See “Limitations” below. Wear safety glasses, impervious gloves and clothing. Surfaces to be bonded should be free of oil, grease and dust. On wet timber pooled water should be wiped off. 1. Cut cartridge tip, fit nozzle and cut end to desired width (approx 5mm diameter). 2. Apply bead along the length of one bonding surface. On broad surfaces apply beads every 40cm. (‘zig-zag’ beads are more appropriate on surfaces of moderate width; eg shiplap panels.) 3. Position pieces and press firmly together. Fix with sufficient nails, screws or clamping to hold the load and achieve contact over the total bond area. Repositionable for up to 5 mins after fitting. 4. Allow to set for 15-20 mins for porous surfaces before removing temporary fasteners or clamps.* Liquid Nails Rapid Cure will achieve a full cure in 24 hours. *Expect longer times for very “dry” timber, heavier objects and less porous surfaces, or in colder weather. Spraying surfaces with a very light mist of water may help speed up the cure. Handy tips Gloves should be worn when applying Liquid Nails Rapid Cure. Avoid contact with skin. Adhesive requires moisture to cure, therefore drying times will vary depending on temperature, humidity and the porosity of materials bonded. Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean and free of oil, grease, release agents, dust or loose particles. Porous surfaces should be prepared by grinding, brushing, wiping with cloths or blowing off with oil-free compressed air. Any laitance should be removed from concrete- based surfaces. Non-porous surfaces should be free of scale, rust or oxides and can be degreased with a solvent such as MEK, acetone or mineral turpentine. Some degreasing solvents may leave a residue that should be removed. For neat joints use masking tape on both sides of the joint and remove before skinning Joint Design: Refer to separate section. Painting: Paintable with water-based paints after product skins (60 – 90 min). Allow longer times before painting in colder weather. Paint within 12 hours of application. Solvent-based paints may be used after first painting with a water-based paint. Due to a large number of paints and varnishes available, a preliminary test of compatibility is recommended. Joint Design For fire rating, joint width should be between 20mm and 40mm. Minimum joint depth should be 10mm or half the width for joints wider than 20mm. A tight-fitting non-absorbent, non-adhering backing material should be used to ensure the correct dimensions and prevent three-surface adhesion. Suitable materials include open cell foam backer rod or bond-breaking tape. Clean Up The uncured product can be removed with mineral turpentine. Cured product can be removed by mechanical action. If sealing lap joints, apply suitable size bead of Butyl Mastic to one surface through the intended fasten line. Bring surfaces together squeezing the mastic bead out on both surfaces and mechanically fix join where necessary. If sealing open joints, apply Butyl Mastic by forcing it into the joint ahead of the nozzle. This method aids in properly filling the joint and forcing mastic to wet on to the sides of the joint. If required, smooth surface with spatula dipped into mineral turps. Limitations: Not an elastomeric compound, it should not be used in joints subject to considerable dynamic movement. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/Course grain, as the silicone will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface. Ensure you tape both sides of the gap before applying the product. This ensures a neat finish and makes it easier to clean up. Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge and cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, to the size of the gap opening. Fit the nozzle to the top of the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking gun. We recommend SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking Gun, as its new innovative pressure release design reduces the mess which results from run on and stress on your hands, which is critical if you are doing a lot of sealing. Hold the caulking gun at a 45° angle. Press the nozzle opening against the joint, apply steady pressure to the caulking gun and extrude the silicone sealant forcing the sealant into the gap and move in a pushing motion, along the joint in one smooth action. For a smooth finish, smooth with a finger dipped in mineral turpetine or for a professional finish use a paint scraper such as a 50mm ROTA COTA Soft Grip Scraper dipped in mineral turpetine. Excess sealant must be cleaned up before the sealant skins in 5-10 minutes. Wipe excess away with a cloth dampened in mineral turpetine or use a SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes. Remove tape before the sealant skins. Clean tools immediately in mineral turpetine. Avoid smearing on surrounding surfaces, see a handy tip. The sealant will cure fully in 72 hours. As this point, any unwanted sealant can be removed by trimming with a sharp blade but avoid undercutting the seal. Handy tips Tips for Using a Brick & Concrete Silicone Sealant Ensure you tape both sides of the gap before applying the product. This ensures a neat finish and makes it easier to clean up. When first applying product, extrude a small amount onto a piece of scrap material to ensure a smooth continuous flow of silicone sealant. Remove the tape before the silicone sealant skins. For a better finish complete painting prior to use of the sealant as it can not be painted over. For a better finish, use a spatula dipped in mineral turpentine or detergent and water to tool off the sealant. Work in sections that can be completed before sealant skins. Tooling off and tape removal must be completed before skinning occurs or a rough surface may result, so working in sections allows for a better finish. Keep a pack of SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes handy to wipe up any spills and for cleaning any material off the skin before it cures. They are an easy and effective way to keep clean on the job. Safety tips Uncured product may irritate eyes. If in eyes, flood the eyes for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Avoid contact with skin, if contact occurs, wipe off immediately and wash with detergent. It may irritate sensitive skin. Avoid breathing in vapours. Ensure you use a well-ventilated area as product releases methyl ethyl ketoxime while curing. Keep away from children. Storage and re-use Store in cool dry conditions, below 30°C The sealant should be used within 6 months after opening. After use keep the nozzle on the cartridge Silicone is a reactive product and is designed to cure once exposed to humidity. While the product may be stored for a few months once opened, it does have a limited shelf life. Storage in an upright position in a cool dry place is recommended to maximise the storage life. If the sealant is going to be used again within a few days, leave the nozzle on and merely extrude approximately 2 cm of product before storing the cartridge upright. This will cure to a plug which can easily be pulled out when required. For longer storage periods, leave the nozzle on and place a piece of plasticene or Blu Tack over the end of the nozzle. Tightly tape a piece of aluminium foil over the whole nozzle to exclude any air. When you want to re-use the product, simply take off the foil and plug from the old nozzle pull out the excess silicone from the nozzle with a corkscrew, then re-pierce any cure at the tip of the cartridge and re-use. If cure has taken place into the cartridge, the product is unlikely to be in a useable state and should be discarded.

For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using SELLEYS Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product. Keep a canister of SELLEYS Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup. To remove excess from materials, it is recommended that the material be soaked in a solution of acetone and water (i.e. 3 parts acetone to 1 part water). Where soaking is not possible, try placing a piece of absorbent material (eg cotton wool) soaked in acetone on the excess for 5 to 10 minutes, topping up the acetone if it evaporates. Gently rub the surface with the material to remove the residues. TEST THE SURFACE IN AN INCONSPICUOUS SPOT to ensure it is unaffected by acetone before attempting removal using this method. Do not squeeze tube before removing the cap. Handle tube by plastic nozzle neck when opening and closing cap. This prevents pressurizing tube which may force material into the cap, preventing a tight seal after use. Safety tips -Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. -Avoid breathing vapour. -Quick Fix is non-hazardous once cured. Where Quick Fix residues are on the skin, it is recommended that the skin be soaked in warm to hot water to allow easy removal. It is not advisable to try to remove the cured adhesive by pulling and scraping the skin as this will only serve to damage the skin. Alternatively, rub in hand cream or vegetable oil to accelerate the natural process of the skin sloughing off to remove the residue. Where immediate adhesive removal is considered necessary apply a solvent such as acetone (nail polish remover) then wash off with soapy water. Apply hand cream to replace naturals oils in the skin. -Do not use near eyes or open wounds. -In case of contact with eyes, flush with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. -Non-toxic when set -For further information refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), which can be found at this site. PC-11® thrives in wet environments. It is resistant to water whether it is fresh or salt. Thick consistency like PC-7® and long open time (30 min). Work horizontal or vertical, indoor or outdoor. Wet, dry or under water. Whether you are working on an area where you just can’t remove water and moisture or you want the white colour for your repair, PC-11® is your choice. Choose PC-11® for ceramic repairs, pools and spas, fibreglass boats, tubs and sinks, stock tanks and thousands of other repairs. It has excellent adhesive properties bonding metals, fibreglass, wood, tile and some plastics such as ABS and rigid PVC. Ample open time allows tooling or positioning in order to tackle larger and challenging jobs. When mixed, the epoxy, part A (white) and the hardener part B (lt. blue) react to form a bond of tremendous strength and flexibility. The PC-11® formulation is slow curing, but slow can be a good thing especially for large tasks. WORKING TIME: 30 MINUTES CURE TIME: 24 HOURS (48 HOURS FOR FULL CURE) PC-11® is thick. Thick is good if you need to work vertically or want to hold an object in place. How thick? Not quite as thick as peanut butter. Here are just a few specific uses (there are hundreds of other uses): Reattach missing swimming pool tiles. Patch a hole in a fibreglass canoe or the fibreglass keel of a fishing boat. Repair cracked or damage swimming pool or hot tub skimmer. Waterproof and Seal cracked fibreglass. Seal screw holes to hatch lids or seating. Attach fish locators to transom. Repair stock tanks. Repair broken refrigerator door shelf fixtures. Repair broken pottery. Repair shower basin or antique bath tub. Seal leaking air conditioner drip pan. Seal underground conduit. How to prepare a surface for bonding with PC-11® Epoxy Paste Remove contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil, barnacles and grime with a solvent such as Denatured Alcohol, Acetone, Rubbing Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or Lacquer Thinner. A mild detergent solution in water is also good removing contaminants. Use a clean paper towel or rag for wiping. Do not use Mineral Spirits or Paint Thinner for removing contaminants. For a wet or underwater surface; clean contaminants as best as you can. Solvents will not help you in this situation. Remove rust and loose paint with sandpaper or wire brush. Epoxy typically sticks to most paints. If there is a concern of the paint’s adhesion then remove it with sandpaper or wire brush. Smooth, glossy and shiny surfaces should be roughened using sandpaper to increase adhesion. How to clean-up after PC-11® Epoxy Paste application Use Denatured Alcohol, Acetone, Rubbing Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or Lacquer Thinner to clean tools and mixing surface before PC-11® cures. Clean hands and skin with soap and water. Cured epoxy can be removed by applying Paint Remover or Paint Stripper to soften the epoxy surface. Scratch off the softened epoxy. Repeat as needed. Can PC-11® be used in Aquariums? There is the potential for PC-11® part A and part B to harm sea life but properly measured and mixed PC-11® has been used safely in fresh and saltwater aquariums. It is important that part A and B are thoroughly and completely mixed. What plastics does PC-11® stick to? PC-11® has good adhesion to Rigid PVC and CPVC, polyester and fiberglass, polyurethane, ABS and Bakelite. What plastics does PC-11® not stick to? PC-11® does not stick to polyethylene, polypropylene, HDPE, polystyrene, nylon, acrylic, Teflon, and polycarbonate. What rubbers does PC-11® stick to? PC-11® sticks to SBR, Buna, and polyurethane rubbers and does not stick to EPDM, vinyl and neoprene rubbers. What temperatures can PC-11® be applied? PC-11® cures very slowly at temperatures below 50°F (10°C). At or below freezing temperatures the PC-11® will stop curing. It has excellent adhesive properties bonding metals, fibreglass, wood, tile and some plastics such as ABS and rigid PVC. Ample open time allows tooling or positioning in order to tackle larger and challenging jobs. When mixed, the epoxy, part A (white) and the hardener part B (lt. blue) react to form a bond of tremendous strength and flexibility. How to prepare a surface for bonding with PC-11® Epoxy Paste Remove contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil, barnacles and grime with a solvent such as Denatured Alcohol, Acetone, Rubbing Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or Lacquer Thinner. A mild detergent solution in water is also good removing contaminants. Use a clean paper towel or rag for wiping. Do not use Mineral Spirits or Paint Thinner for removing contaminants. For a wet or underwater surface; clean contaminants as best as you can. Solvents will not help you in this situation. Remove rust and loose paint with sandpaper or wire brush. Epoxy typically sticks to most paints. If there is a concern of the paint’s adhesion then remove it with sandpaper or wire brush. Smooth, glossy and shiny surfaces should be roughened using sandpaper to increase adhesion. How to clean-up after PC-11® Epoxy Paste application Use Denatured Alcohol, Acetone, Rubbing Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or Lacquer Thinner to clean tools and mixing surface before PC-11® cures. Clean hands and skin with soap and water. Cured epoxy can be removed by applying Paint Remover or Paint Stripper to soften the epoxy surface. Scratch off the softened epoxy. Repeat as needed. Can PC-11® be used in Aquariums? There is the potential for PC-11® part A and part B to harm sea life but properly measured and mixed PC-11® has been used safely in fresh and saltwater aquariums.
