Uses SikaBond can be used on most substrates due to its excellent adhesion. These include: Floor and wall panels. Wood, plasterboard and chipboard. Aluminium, iron and steel. Concrete, cement sheeting and masonry. Advantages One component ready to use. Fast drying time. Easy to use. High adhesion strength. Non-slump. Storage and Shelf Life Stored in the original sealed packaging at temperatures of between 5ºC and 35ºC, this material will keep for at least twelve (12) months. Instructions for Use Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of oil, grease and surface contamination. Thoroughly remove all loose particles and dust. Any loose flaking must be removed and light sanding is recommended. Application One Way Method: This method is recommended for heavier panels or where load or stress is expected. Apply a 4 to 6mm bead of SikaBond using a cartridge gun, making sure the beads are no more than 45cm apart. Bring both substrates immediately together and clamp, nail or screw for a minimum of 24 hours. For butt joints use adhesive on both panel edges. Two Way Method: Apply adhesive as in one way method, bring together substrates, and press firmly over entire surface to transfer adhesive. Then pull apart. Allow adhesive to tack off for 3 to 5 minutes depending on weather conditions, reposition the objects and press together firmly. The surfaces should be tapped together with a hammer and a padded block to ensure maximum contact. Maximum bond strength will be achieved in 12 to 72 hours, depending on substrates and weather. Heavy panels may require temporary mechanical fastening until maximum strength is achieved.

Keep apart until the adhesive film is almost dry (approx. 10 – 20 minutes). Carefully line up surfaces to be joined and press surfaces firmly together. Bonds immediately on contact. Clamping may be necessary in some applications. For smaller areas, either use the contact method as above, or join with a wet bond: Apply Shoe Glue to one surface only and immediately press together. Lightly clamp or hold until dry. Allow adhesive to achieve maximum bond strength (24 hours) before wearing your repaired shoe/s. Wipe nozzle clean and replace cap immediately after use. Mix thoroughly. -Apply to one surface, then bring together and hold using tape, weights etc. -Once cured this product is extremely difficult to remove. Any material squeezed out of joints or split is best removed before it sets using Solvent Acetone or Methyl Ethyl Ketone solvent. -Wipe nozzles after use. Pull the plunger back slightly and replace cap firmly over nozzles. Handy tips -For filling only, can be tinted with iron oxide or other dry pigments which must be mixed in very thoroughly. -Softens at high temperatures, but strength returns when cooled. -Wear protective gloves and eye protection when mixing or using. -Keep a canister of SELLEYS Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup. -Clean up excess material with Acetone immediately. Once set the product cannot be removed easily -To remove product after cure, mechanical action (scraping or sanding) is recommended. Since the product is chemically resistant solvent will NOT dissolve this product. -To reposition the bond once cured, check that the item is heat resistant. If safe, heat the item slowly, e.g. in an oven, to at least 150oC. The product will soften and liquify slightly. Scrape off any excess then reposition the joint carefully using appropriate safety equipment. Allow the item to cool down in the correct position. The product will reharden once returned to room temperature. Safety tips -Avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid breathing its vapours. -Wear protective gloves when mixing and using. -If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. If porous surfaces are greasy or dirty, we would recommend cleaning the surface with SELLEYS LIQUID SUGAR SOAP, and allow to dry. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Mineral Turpetine and then again with Methylated Spirits, and allow to dry. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as old flaky paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS KWIK STRIP SMART, and allow to dry. On wet timber pooled water should be wiped off. Highly oily timber types may need to be wiped with solvent prior to application to remove surface oils. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/ Course grain, as the construction adhesive will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface. Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge. Cut the nozzle end to desired opening (approx. 5mm diameter). Fit to the top of the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking gun. We recommend SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking Gun, as its new innovative pressure release design reduces the mess which results from run on and stress on your hands, which is critical if you are doing a lot of work which requires a caulking gun. Apply a bead of product along the length of the joist, stud or batten. On broad flat surfaces apply beads every 40cm. Fix the surfaces with sufficient nails, screws or clamping to hold load and achieve contact over the total bond area. The product is repositionable for up to 20 minutes after fitting. Allow the adhesive to set (at least 24 hours) before removing any temporary fasteners or clamping. For faster grab, apply to one surface only, press together and pull apart. Allow surfaces to dry 2-5 minutes before firmly joining. The time it takes to form a strong bond depends on the nature and conditions of the application. In most situations strong bonds can be achieved after 24 hours and will continue to strengthen over a 2-3 day period. The product will fully cure up to 7 days. When the product is still wet it can be removed with mineral turpetine, otherwise if the product is dry it can be removed by sanding or scraping, we recommend using a 50mm ROTA COTA Soft Grip Scraper. Clean any excess from your hands with SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes. To eliminate squeaks in tongue and groove flooring, apply a bead of Liquid nails into the groove or each board when installing. Handy tips When applying to one surface, ensure sufficient LIQUID NAILS Original is used so that some adhesive extrudes out when surfaces are brought together then wipe off excess if necessary. If glue is not visible, then insufficient contact may not have been made between the surfaces and a weak joint may result. LIQUID NAILS Original should always be used in conjunction with mechanical fasteners in structural, critical or high stress applications. LIQUID NAILS Original is sometimes called LIQUID NAILS (SOLVENT) to differentiate it from the other Liquid Nails products. LIQUID NAILS Original shrinks slightly on curing. Cured LIQUID NAILS Original residues can be removed by holding a rag soaked in Mineral Turps against the residue, then rubbing the residue once softened. Mineral Turps penetrates in this way at approximately 1 mm per hour. When Liquid Nails Original joints are directly exposed to the weather, it is recommended to seal around the edges with a silicone sealant to prevent water ponding inside the joint and thus weaken the joint. Any remaining shreds can be removed by rolling or dabbing a bigger piece of Ezy Tack over the area. Handy Tips: Do not use Ezy Tack on absorbent, silk-screen printed, hand-stencilled wallpaper, or recently decorated surfaces. On some surfaces, Ezy Tack may leave a faint oily mark but this can be removed using a citrus based stain remover. The following should only be used as a guide and the installer should apply all Australian Standards, BCA/NZBC requirements, and best practices when installing. Surfaces to be sealed must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, old mastic and flaking paint. If necessary clean with degreasing solvent such as white spirits. Cut nozzle supplied at an angle and to the required opening. Cut end off nipple on cartridge, fit nozzle and insert in suitable caulking gun such as the Selleys Light Speed caulking gun. If sealing lap joints, apply suitable size bead of Butyl Mastic to one surface through the intended fasten line. Bring surfaces together squeezing the mastic bead out on both surfaces and mechanically fix join where necessary. If sealing open joints, apply Butyl Mastic by forcing it into the joint ahead of the nozzle. This method aids in properly filling the joint and forcing mastic to wet on to the sides of the joint. If required, smooth surface with spatula dipped into mineral turps. Limitations: Not an elastomeric compound, it should not be used in joints subject to considerable dynamic movement. Should not be used where joint movement will exceed ±8%. Maximum service is achieved when used within joints; it is not recommended to be used as a "skim" coating over joints. Not recommended for use in joints required to resist static air or water pressure. Surfaces must be clean and dry. Life expectancy in joints is approximately 5 years Interior applications may have greatly extended skin over time due to the reduced presence of sunlight.
