PC-Fahrenheit™ Putty Epoxy is the choice for temperatures up to 260° C. It is supplied as a premeasured stick that you mix with fingers. Fast curing (60 min). Best for steam heat applications. A toolbox must. Great on copper and iron. Here are just a few specific uses (there are hundreds of other uses): Seal cracked steam or hot water radiator Stop leaking steam fittings Fill hole in heat exchanger Attach thermocouple to hot surface Seal chimney ductwork How to prepare a surface for bonding with PC-Fahrenheit™ Remove contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil and grime with a solvent such as denatured alcohol (ethanol), acetone, rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or lacquer thinner. A mild detergent solution in water is also good removing contaminants. Use a clean paper towel or rag for wiping. Remove rust and loose paint with sandpaper or wire brush. Epoxy typically sticks to most paints. If there is a concern of the paint’s adhesion then remove it with sandpaper, wire brush or paint stripper. Smooth, glossy and shiny surfaces should be roughened using sandpaper to increase adhesion. Adhesion to wet or damp surfaces can be improved by wiping with alcohol. Do not use mineral spirits or paint thinner for removing contaminants. How to clean-up after PC-Fahrenheit™ application We recommend wearing disposable gloves when mixing and applying epoxy putty. Remove from skin with soap and warm water. Clean up mixed epoxy before it cures with paper towels and solvent. Denatured alcohol (ethanol), acetone, rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or lacquer thinner are suitable solvents for removing uncured epoxy. Cured epoxy can be physically removed by prying off with a screwdriver or pliers. It can also be removed with paint stripper or remover. Can PC-Fahrenheit™ repair a leaking steam radiator? PC-Fahrenheit™ resists higher temperatures and is suitable for repairing steam pipes and radiators. Can PC-Fahrenheit™ be used in a fireplace or wood burning stove? PC-Fahrenheit™ will withstand temperatures up to 260°C. A fireplace or wood burning stove creates temperatures exceeding 260°C. Can PC-Fahrenheit™ be used to seal heater chimney duct? PC-Fahrenheit™ is excellent for use on sheet metal and the temperature is within an acceptable range. Can PC-Fahrenheit™ seal a rust hole in barbecue grill? PC-Fahrenheit™ can be used on the barbecue grill exterior but is not recommended for the interior. How long should PC-Fahrenheit™ be mixed before applying? Mix PC-Fahrenheit™ for 45 to 60 seconds then immediately apply. What is the temperature limit? PC-Fahrenheit is not intended to exceed 260°C. -  Will PC-Fahrenheit™ burn? PC-Fahrenheit™ is not flame resistant and may burn if exposed to direct flame. Does PC-Fahrenheit™ stick to car radiator? Car radiators are made of various metals and plastic composites. Test for adhesion and test for leaks.

Tommy Tape® Self-Fusing Silicone Tape The next generation of tape is here — premium, adhesive-free repair and sealing tape for fast fixes at home, on the job, and on the road. Tommy Tape self-fusing silicone tape saves time and money across plumbing, electrical, automotive, marine, garden, and industrial jobs. Unlike vinyl or cloth tapes, it uses no adhesive. Instead, it chemically bonds (self-fuses) to itself on contact to form a tough, flexible, and permanently water-tight wrap — even underwater. Why you’ll love it Extreme temperature range: operates from −65 °F to +500 °F (approx. −54 °C to +260 °C). Electrical safety: insulates up to 8,000 V per layer (typical PVC electrical tape ≈ 600 V). Leaves no residue: no adhesive means no sticky mess when removed. Weather- & waterproof: seals within seconds; ideal for outdoor and marine use. Flexible & form-fitting: stretches over 300% to wrap irregular shapes, fittings, and bends. Built to last: resists UV, oil, salt, and common chemicals; helps combat corrosion. Popular uses Plumbing: emergency seals on copper, PVC, and garden hoses; patch vacuum and pool hoses. Electrical: bundling and insulating leads, wire harnesses, extension-cord strain relief (power off first). Automotive & 4×4: wrap frayed looms, protect hoses, create quick roadside fixes. Marine: mast boot wraps, deck-side waterproofing, salt-spray protection. Tools & grips: re-grip shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, gym dumbbells, walking canes. Sports & DIY: re-grip golf clubs, tennis/pickleball paddles; improve wheelchair and shower-chair grip. Home & garden: weatherproof outdoor cables, protect back-yard gear and appliances. Industrial: protective wraps on fittings, temporary containment where adhesives aren’t suitable. How to apply (best results) Prep: Turn power/water off where applicable. Clean and dry the area if possible. Start & anchor: Peel off the liner, stretch the tape as you begin to wrap, and press the starting end onto itself to anchor. Stretch & overlap: Stretch to at least 2× its length (more stretch = stronger fuse). Overlap each wrap by ½ width. Build layers: Add additional layers for higher pressure, stronger seals, or increased dielectric protection. Finish: End the wrap on itself and press firmly. Full fusion develops quickly; handle with care while it sets. Remove: Cut off (do not unwind) when it’s time to replace — it leaves no residue. Specifications Material Silicone rubber (self-fusing) Adhesive None (bonds to itself on contact) Dielectric Strength Up to 8,000 V per layer (build layers for higher insulation) Temperature Range −65 °F to +500 °F (approx. −54 °C to +260 °C) Resistance UV, oil, salt, weather, and common household/automotive chemicals Water Performance Weatherproof & waterproof; can be applied underwater in many scenarios Elongation Stretches over 300% for tight, conformal wraps Removal Cut off to remove; no sticky residue Colours / Sizes Varies by SKU (see options above) Better than traditional tapes Feature Tommy Tape Self-Fusing Silicone Vinyl / Cloth Electrical Tape Adhesive No adhesive (self-fuses) Pressure-sensitive adhesive (leaves residue) Waterproof Seal Yes — seals in seconds; can be used underwater Limited; adhesive can lift when wet Dielectric Strength Up to 8,000 V per layer Typically ~600 V Temperature Range −54 °C to +260 °C Narrower range; softens or becomes brittle UV/Chemical Resistance Excellent (UV, oil, salt, chemicals) Moderate; can degrade outdoors Residue on Removal None — clean cut-off Commonly leaves sticky residue FAQs Can I use it on live electrical circuits? No. Always switch power off before wrapping. Build sufficient layers for the required insulation, and follow local electrical standards. Will it stick to wet or oily surfaces? Because it bonds to itself (not the substrate), it can often be applied in damp or even underwater situations. For best results, clean and dry the area first. Is it reusable? Once fused, it forms a single mass. Cut it off to remove; it won’t unwind. Apply a fresh wrap if needed. What isn’t it for? Not a substitute for permanent structural repairs. Avoid use on fuel lines or high-pressure systems without proper engineering sign-off. Notes: Performance values are typical and depend on application method, substrate, and number of layers. Always test on a small area first. Follow safety guidelines for electrical and pressurised systems.

Boston Premium PTFE Plumbers Pink Thread Seal Tape is a trade-focused thread sealing tape for water pipe fittings, supplied here as a bulk pack of 10 rolls for plumbers who get through plenty of tape. Each roll is 12mm wide and 10m long, and the pink colouring makes it easy to tell apart from other tapes on the truck or in the toolbox.About the formulaThis is a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) film tape that fills the gap in tapered pipe threads to help prevent leaks at threaded joints. It was developed in Australia for professional plumbers, and it is WaterMark approved to WMTS 014:2016 (licence WMK26374). The tape has a density of 0.8g/cm³ and handles a wide temperature range, from -190°C to +310°C, so it suits both hot and cold water lines.Where to use itIndoors: threaded fittings on domestic and commercial water lines, such as taps, valves, unions and connectors.Outdoors: threaded water connections on garden and irrigation lines and other exposed pipework.Suitable for the threaded joints of water pipe fittings. Pink tape is intended for water use, so choose a tape that is rated for gas on any gas fitting. How to use itMake sure the male thread is clean and dry, and free of old tape, oil and debris. Hold the end of the tape on the thread and wrap it around the thread in the direction the fitting will tighten, so the tape does not unwind when the joint is made up. Overlap each turn slightly, keep the tape pulled snug so it presses into the thread grooves, and leave the first thread clear. Tear off the tape, press the end down, then assemble the joint and tighten as normal.Important notesDo not over-tighten, as this can damage fittings. If a joint leaks after assembly, undo it, remove the old tape and rewrap with fresh tape rather than adding more on top. Follow your local plumbing regulations and the fitting manufacturer's instructions for the job.Specifications Brand Boston Product Premium PTFE Plumbers Pink Thread Seal Tape Pack 10 rolls, each 12mm x 10m Colour Pink Material PTFE Density 0.8g/cm³ Temperature range -190°C to +310°C Application Hand wrapped onto threads Standards WaterMark approved, WMTS 014:2016, WMK26374 Use Hot and cold water pipe threads SafetyUse with normal care and keep the work area tidy so loose tape offcuts do not end up in pipework. In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Sika Sikasil Auto is a neutral-cure, one-component silicone adhesive sealant made for vehicle repair and trim work, supplied here in a handy 75g tube. It forms a permanent, flexible bond or seal on a wide range of automotive materials, and the cured rubber copes with sunlight, salt spray, temperature swings, vibration and regular car-wash products without hardening, shrinking or cracking.About the formulaA moisture-curing, one-component silicone with a neutral cure, so it does not give off the acidic smell of acetic silicones and is described by the manufacturer as non-corrosive. It cures by reacting with moisture in the air, starting at the surface and working into the core of the joint. Cure speed depends on humidity and temperature, and it cures more slowly in cold conditions. Once cured it is a soft, stretchy rubber with strong thermal, UV, weathering and vibration resistance, and it stays serviceable from -50°C up to 250°C.Where to use itIndoors: bonding small interior components and trim, sealing joints, and cutting down noise and vibration inside the vehicle.Outdoors: sealing and bonding small exterior parts and joints on cars and other vehicles where weather, UV and salt spray are a concern.Suitable materials include fibreglass, metals, most plastics, glass and painted surfaces. Always test on the actual substrates and under your real conditions first to confirm adhesion and material compatibility. How to use itApply at ambient temperatures between 5°C and 45°C onto clean, dry surfaces that are free of oil, grease and dust. Run the sealant into the joint or onto the part and assemble or tool it before it skins over. At 23°C and 50% relative humidity it skins in about 10 minutes and is tack free in about 20 minutes. Excess uncured sealant can be wiped off with Sika Remover-208 or a similar product. Cured sealant has to be trimmed or scraped away mechanically. If you get it on your skin, wash straight away with SikaCleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on skin.Important notesSikasil Auto cannot be overpainted, so complete any painting before sealing or mask the area. It cures to a depth of about 3 mm in 24 hours, so deeper joints and thicker beads take longer. Check the manufacturer's data sheet for any surfaces or applications where the product is not recommended. This product is designed for vehicle applications. Test first on a small area before committing to the full job.Specifications Brand Sika Product Sikasil Auto Multipurpose Automotive Adhesive Sealant Pack 75g tube Colour Translucent Chemical base 1-component silicone, neutral cure, moisture-curing Application Tube, applied by hand Application temperature 5 to 45°C ambient Skin time About 10 minutes (23°C, 50% r.h.) The Deks Dektite Premium #7 is a red silicone roof flashing for sealing larger pipe, flue and vent penetrations through metal roofing, supplied here as a single unit that suits pipes from 150mm to 300mm. A flexible silicone cone fits snugly around the pipe, and a formable aluminium edge lets the large square base follow the shape of your roof sheeting. It is built for the heat, UV and weather swings of Australian roofs.About the productThe cone is moulded from red silicone polymer. Deks rates it for constant temperatures at the roofline from -50°C up to 200°C, so it also suits hot flues and exhausts as well as cold pipes. The cone is designed to hold firm contact against the pipe wall for a watertight seal. The malleable aluminium edge bends to match corrugated and ribbed profiles. The wide 456mm square base gives you a more forgiving fit over a larger or slightly untidy opening. Deks lists UV testing, BAL 29 and other certifications for the range on its product page.Where to use itIndoors: not applicable, this is a roof-top flashing. It is fitted from the outside where the pipe leaves the building.Outdoors: single pipe, flue, vent, exhaust or similar round penetrations on metal roofs, including hot-flue applications that suit the temperature range above.Suitable for a single round penetration with an outside diameter of 150mm to 300mm on metal roof profiles. Check the pipe size before you order, as the cone is trimmed to fit and cannot be made larger. How to use itMeasure the outside diameter of the pipe and trim the silicone cone with sharp shears at the matching point so it grips the pipe snugly. Slide the flashing down over the pipe and bend the aluminium edge to match the roof profile. Fix the base to the roof with suitable screws and seal as recommended by the manufacturer. Check that the cone sits tight against the pipe and that the base follows the sheeting with no gaps.Important notesAlways follow the Deks installation instructions for your roof profile and pipe. Wear gloves when handling the aluminium edge, as trimmed and formed edges can be sharp. This product is a flashing, not a sealant, and the base should be fixed and sealed with fasteners and sealants suited to your roof. If you are unsure about fitting to hot flues or in bushfire-prone areas, check the relevant requirements or ask a licensed roofer or plumber.Specifications Brand Deks Product Dektite Premium #7 Red Silicone Roof Flashing Pack 1 flashing Pipe outside diameter 150mm to 300mm Base size 456mm x 456mm (square) Overall height About 99mm Colour Red Material Silicone cone with formable aluminium base Temperature range at roofline -50°C to 200°C (constant) Roof pitch 0 to 45 degrees Use Exterior, metal roofs SafetyTake normal care when working at heights and use fall protection where required. In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Boston Silicone Self-Fusing Tape in black is a 3 metre roll of stretchy repair tape made for quick fixes on leaking pipes and hoses. It fuses to itself as you wrap it, so there is no glue involved. It forms a watertight and airtight wrap, which makes it a handy emergency item for the plumbing kit, the toolbox or the shed.About the formulaThis is a silicone tape with no adhesive coating. It bonds only to itself, which means it does not leave sticky residue and can be removed cleanly when the job is done. The tape stretches well beyond three times its length, and that stretch is what lets it pull tight around pipes, hoses and fittings. It is rated for a very wide temperature range, from -55°C to +260°C. The black colour hides dirt and grime and blends in with black fittings.Where to use itIndoors: temporary sealing of weeping pipes, hose joins and fittings around the laundry, bathroom, kitchen or workshop; adding a comfortable, slip-resistant grip to tool handles.Outdoors: emergency repairs on garden hoses and tubing, and general fast fixes around the home, garden or workshop. The tape is designed for wrapping around pipes, hoses, fittings and tool handles. It is a multipurpose repair tape, so it also suits many other small wrap-and-seal jobs. How to use itMake sure the area you are repairing is clean and free of dirt and grease. Peel back the end of the tape and begin wrapping straight over the leak. Stretch the tape as you wind it on and overlap each turn, extending past the damaged spot on both sides. Press the finished wrap firmly so the layers fuse into one continuous seal. To fit a tool grip, wrap the tape around the handle in the same way. Cut the tape to length with scissors or a knife.Important notesBoston positions this tape for emergency and quick repairs. If a pipe or hose is badly damaged, plan to replace the affected section. Because the tape fuses only to itself, it will not stick to a surface if simply laid flat, so always wrap it back over itself. Keep the unused roll in a cool, dry place out of direct sun. Please follow the instructions that come with the pack.Specifications Brand Boston Product Silicone Self-Fusing Tape Pack 1 roll, 3m length Colour Black Material Silicone Application Hand wrapped, fuses to itself (no adhesive) Stretch Over 300% Temperature range -55°C to +260°C Use Pipe and hose leak repair, tool grips SafetyAs a general precaution, keep the tape out of reach of small children. Selleys Autofix Instant Gasket High Temperature Sealant is a red, 100% silicone gasket maker for engine and exhaust jobs where ordinary gasket sealants would give up, supplied here as a 100ml squeeze tube. It lets you form a custom gasket straight from the tube on almost any flange, and it is built to cope with intermittent heat spikes up to 343°C.About the formulaAn acetoxy (acetic cure) silicone that cures to a tough, flexible red rubber seal. It flows into uneven surfaces and small gaps between mating parts to make a high-pressure seal, and it is described by Selleys as sensor safe and suited to high torque and vibration use. Continuous service temperature is rated from -40°C to 260°C, with intermittent exposure up to 343°C.Where to use itIndoors: gaskets and flanges in dishwashers, refrigerators, oven doors, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning equipment.Outdoors and under the bonnet: oil pans, valve covers, water pumps, exhaust manifolds, mufflers, tail pipes and exhaust pipe connectors.Intended for metal flanges and similar mating parts in engines, exhausts and appliances. Check the part and the service conditions suit a silicone seal before you start. How to use it Remove all old gasket material, then clean the surfaces with mineral turpentine and let them dry. If you do not want the gasket to adhere (for easier disassembly), wipe the mating surfaces with an oily cloth instead. Take off the cap, remove the foil seal, refit the nozzle and cut it at a 45° angle. Squeeze the tube with steady pressure to lay a bead about 1.5 to 3mm thick on one of the surfaces, running around the bolt holes. Join the parts within 10 minutes. Hand-tighten the bolts until sealant just starts to squeeze out, then leave for 30 minutes. Tighten the bolts to the required torque. If you need a thicker gasket, assemble the parts but leave the bolts loose for 24 hours. Allow 90 minutes before filling with liquid. The sealant fully cures in about 24 hours. Clean up uncured sealant with mineral turpentine. Cured sealant has to be cut and scraped away. Replace the cap after use. Let the sealant cure in the nozzle and pull it out before the next use. Important notesApply in conditions between -20°C and 50°C. A skin forms in about 5 minutes, so work promptly and assemble within 10 minutes of applying the bead. Where a cork gasket is being replaced, make sure parts such as rocker covers still have enough clearance and do not fully tighten until the sealant has cured. If you need to separate the flanges later, pry them apart and clear off the old sealant before reassembling. Store below 30°C and use within 24 months of the production date.Specifications Brand Selleys Product Autofix Instant Gasket High Temperature Sealant Size 100ml tube Colour Red Base 100% acetoxy silicone Application Squeeze tube with cut nozzle Skin time About 5 minutes Set time About 30 minutes Full cure About 24 hours Service temperature -40°C to 260°C Intermittent temperature Up to 343°C Application temperature -20°C to 50°C Density 1.02 g/ml Movement capability 25% Hardness (Shore A) 18 or higher Use Interior and exterior SafetyAvoid skin and eye contact, work in a well-ventilated area and wear suitable gloves and eye protection. Kinetic Heavy Duty Thread Seal Tape is a pink PTFE plumber's tape for sealing threaded pipe and fitting connections, supplied here as a handy pack of five 12mm x 10m rolls. It gives a clean, positive seal on screwed joints and helps stop leaks at plumbing and heating connections, with a wide working temperature range for hot and cold duty.About the formulaThis is a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) film tape in a heavy duty grade, coloured pink for easy identification on the job. PTFE is naturally corrosion resistant, so the tape will not rust or degrade the way some paste-type sealants can. It is rated for a working temperature of -100°C to 250°C. The tape is not an adhesive: it works by filling the small gaps between mating threads as the joint is tightened.Where to use itPlumbing: threaded water pipe connections and screwed brass fittings, which is the primary application listed for this pack.Heating: threaded joints in heating pipework and similar screwed connections.Suitable pipe and fitting materials include plastic, brass, copper, aluminium, galvanised steel and iron. How to use itMake sure the threads are clean and free of oil, dust and old sealant. Wrap the tape onto the male thread in the same direction the thread turns, so the tape does not unwind when the fitting is tightened. Keep light tension on the tape so it moulds into the thread form. Use several overlapping wraps (typically about four for small threads, with more for larger sizes), then screw the fitting together and tighten as normal. Test the joint under pressure before putting the system into service.Important notesWrapping against the direction of the thread can cause the tape to bunch up and unwind. Do not over-wrap, as too much tape can make fittings hard to assemble or crack plastic female fittings. Check that the tape is approved for your specific application, such as potable water or gas, before use, as approval details for this exact pack are not confirmed here. Keep away from open flames and do not use beyond the stated temperature range.Specifications Brand Kinetic Product Heavy Duty Thread Seal Tape Pack 5 rolls Roll size 12mm wide x 10m long Thickness 0.1mm Colour Pink Material PTFE Working temperature -100°C to 250°C Corrosion resistant Yes Application Hand wrapped onto male threads Packaging Blister pack SafetyAs general precautions, keep out of reach of children, keep away from open flames, store in a cool, dry place and wash hands after handling. Fix-A-Tap Uniseal High Density PTFE Thread Seal Tape is a grey thread seal tape for gas and water pipe connections, supplied as a single 12mm x 10m roll on a card. The metallic grey pigment helps it blend in with chrome and galvanised fittings, so it is a good choice when you don't want white tape showing at the joint.About the formulaThis is a high density PTFE tape designed to form a leak-proof seal on suitable metal threads. It carries both AGA approval for gas threads and WaterMark approval for water threads. The AGA temperature range is -10°C to +210°C and the rated working pressure is 2MPa.Where to use itIndoors: threaded joints on water and gas pipework, such as fittings, connectors and valves, where a discreet grey finish is preferred.Outdoors: the manufacturer does not give specific outdoor guidance, so check the fitting and installation requirements for your job.It is intended for suitable metal pipe threads on gas and water lines. Always confirm that the tape suits the fitting and the service you are sealing. How to use itMake sure the male thread is clean, dry and free of old tape, oil and debris. Start at the thread end and wrap the tape around the thread in the direction the fitting will be tightened, so it doesn't unravel as you screw the joint together. Keep the tape snug and press it into the thread form, then assemble the joint. Gas fitting must be carried out by a licensed gas fitter in line with local regulations.Important notesUse only within the AGA temperature range of -10°C to +210°C and the rated working pressure of 2MPa. Rust-Oleum LeakSeal Self-Fusing Silicone Tape is a no-adhesive repair tape for stopping leaks on pipes and hoses and for wrapping damaged wiring insulation, supplied here as a clear 25.4mm x 3.04m roll. It stretches and wraps around awkward shapes, then fuses to itself to form a tight, water-resistant seal that suits quick home fixes as well as automotive and workshop repairs.About the formulaThis is a silicone rubber tape that bonds to itself rather than to the surface underneath. That is why it peels away cleanly later without leaving a sticky residue. The manufacturer rates it excellent for moisture resistance, electrical insulation, UV and ozone resistance and corrosion prevention, and good for flame, abrasion, tear and solvent resistance. It is also rated good to fair for acid and oil resistance. It meets UL 510 and is claimed to insulate up to 8,000 volts.Where to use itIndoors: weeping or leaking pipes and joints, hoses on appliances, and frayed or worn cable insulation (see the electrical safety note below).Outdoors: garden and irrigation hoses, exposed pipework, and vehicle or equipment hoses and fittings exposed to sun and weather.Suited to wrapping around pipes, hoses, fittings and cables made from common materials such as metal and rubber. As the tape fuses to itself rather than relying on adhesion, it conforms to irregular shapes well. Test a small area first on delicate surfaces. How to use itDry the area to be repaired first. Hold the end of the tape firmly on the problem spot, then stretch the tape under tension as you wrap it around the object. Overlap each layer by about 13mm and keep wrapping so the tape lies over itself and fuses. Cover the whole problem area, cut the tape when finished and press the end down firmly. To remove it, simply unwrap or cut it off.Important notesThe tape needs to be stretched while wrapping, with each turn overlapping the last, to fuse properly. Loose or single-layer wraps will not seal. Treat it as an effective repair or emergency fix, and replace damaged pipes, hoses or cables where a permanent solution is needed. The manufacturer lists continuous operating temperatures from -45°C to 200°C and intermittent exposure from -65°C to 260°C, so keep it away from conditions above these limits. Do not rely on it to repair mains-voltage wiring: isolate the power first and have electrical work carried out by a licensed electrician. Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents, strong acids and strong alkalis.Specifications Brand Rust-Oleum Product LeakSeal Self-Fusing Silicone Tape Size 25.4mm x 3.04m roll (1 roll) Colour Clear Material Self-fusing silicone rubber tape Application Hand wrapped under tension, no adhesive or tools Continuous operating temperature -45°C to 200°C Intermittent operating temperature -65°C to 260°C Tensile strength 700 psi minimum Elongation 300% minimum Hardness Shore A 55 (+/- 5) after 24 hours Electrical insulation Up to 8,000 volts (manufacturer claim) Standard Meets UL 510 Use Interior and exterior SafetyWash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking after handling. If it gets in the eyes, rinse with water and remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. If heated to decomposition, silicone can give off acrid smoke and irritating fumes, so avoid excess heat and ensure good ventilation. Store the roll in a cool, dry place away from strong oxidisers, acids and alkalis. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.

Rust-Oleum LeakSeal Self-Fusing Silicone Tape is a stretch-and-wrap repair tape for stopping leaks on pipes and hoses and for insulating damaged electrical wires, supplied here as a single black 25.4mm x 3.04m roll. It has no adhesive layer. Instead, each wrap fuses to the layer beneath it, so it forms a tight, sealed sleeve around the repair and can be cut off later without leaving sticky residue behind.About the formulaThis is a silicone rubber tape that bonds to itself rather than to the surface underneath. Rust-Oleum describes it as a moisture and chemical resistant barrier that also helps protect against corrosion. Its technical data sheet rates it Excellent for moisture resistance, electrical insulation, UV and ozone resistance and corrosion prevention. It rates solvent, abrasion and tear resistance as Good. Acid, oil and hydrocarbon resistance is rated Good to Fair. The tape has a minimum tensile strength of 700 psi, a minimum elongation of 300% and a Shore A hardness of 55 (plus or minus 5) once cured for 24 hours. It meets UL 510. Rust-Oleum states it insulates up to 8,000 volts.Where to use itIndoors: temporary or emergency repairs on leaking pipes, fittings and hoses, and insulating or protecting frayed electrical wires and cable joins.Outdoors: wrapping hoses, fittings and exposed connections that face moisture and sunlight, including automotive and general workshop repairs.Because it fuses to itself, it works best on pipes, hoses, cables and other tubular or irregular shapes that you can wrap fully around. How to use itDry the surface before you start. Press the end of the tape onto the problem area, hold it firmly, then stretch the tape with tension as you wrap it around the object. Overlap each layer by about 13mm (the manufacturer gives 1.2 to 1.4cm) and wrap the tape over itself so it fuses. Cover the whole problem area, cut the tape and press the end firmly into place. To remove, cut the tape carefully with scissors or a knife.Important notesThe tape fuses to itself, so wrap it all the way around the item with each layer overlapping the last. The 700 psi figure on the TDS is a tensile strength rating, so do not treat it as a working pressure rating for pipes. Keep pressurised, hot or critical repairs in line with the system's own requirements and replace them with a proper repair where needed. The TDS gives a continuous operating range of -45°C to 200°C and an intermittent range of -65°C to 260°C. Flame resistance is rated Good, so do not treat the tape as fireproof. For electrical repairs, make sure the circuit is isolated and have any permanent work done by a licensed electrician.Specifications Brand Rust-Oleum Product LeakSeal Self-Fusing Silicone Tape Model number 279241 Size 25.4mm wide x 3.04m long roll (single roll) Colour Black Base Self-fusing silicone rubber Application Hand applied, stretch and wrap Continuous operating temperature -45°C to 200°C Intermittent operating temperature -65°C to 260°C Tensile strength 700 psi minimum Elongation 300% minimum Hardness Shore A 55 (plus or minus 5), cured 24 hours Electrical insulation Up to 8,000 volts (manufacturer rating) Standard Meets UL 510 Use Interior and exterior SafetyIf it gets in your eyes, flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, keep the eyelids open, remove contact lenses if easy to do and keep rinsing. Gardner Bender Black Self-Bonding Repair Tape is a silicone emergency repair tape for quick, tidy fixes around the home, workshop and vehicle, supplied as a 2.5cm x 3m roll. It has no sticky adhesive layer. Instead, you stretch it as you wrap and it fuses to itself, forming an airtight, watertight seal that suits hoses, pipes, cables and tool handles.About the formulaThe tape is made from silicone and relies on self-bonding rather than glue. It only fuses to itself, so it doesn't leave a tacky residue on the item you wrap. The manufacturer describes it as resistant to heat, friction and UV, and it is rated for temperatures up to 260°C. That makes it handy for jobs where ordinary tapes would soften or perish.Where to use itIndoors: temporary repairs to leaking water pipes, wrapping and protecting electrical cables and connectors, and rebuilding or gripping tool handles.Outdoors and in the vehicle: patching engine hoses and radiator pipes, wrapping exhausts, and emergency repairs on guttering. It is well suited to hoses, pipes, cables, connectors, guttering and similar round or irregular shapes that can be wrapped. Because it bonds to itself rather than to the surface, it works on a wide range of materials. How to use itWipe the area to be repaired so it is clean and dry. For a leak, ideally shut off the flow or pressure first. Start wrapping a short distance beyond each side of the damage. Stretch the tape firmly as you wrap, overlapping each turn by about half the width so the layers press together and fuse. Finish by wrapping the end back onto itself and pressing it down firmly.Important notesThe tape must be stretched while wrapping, otherwise it won't fuse properly. It bonds to itself only, so it is a repair tool and not an adhesive for sticking two different surfaces together. It is an emergency and temporary repair for many plumbing and automotive jobs. Replace damaged pipes, hoses or fittings properly as soon as practical, particularly for high-pressure, gas, fuel or mains-voltage applications. Check the tape's suitability yourself before using it as electrical insulation on live circuits, and always isolate power first. Keep it below the rated temperature of 260°C.Specifications Brand Gardner Bender Product Self-Bonding Repair Tape Size 2.5cm x 3m roll Colour Black Material Silicone Adhesive None, bonds to itself Moisture sealing Yes (waterproof and airtight when wrapped) Maximum temperature Up to 260°C Resistance Heat, friction and UV Application Hand wrapped SafetyAs a general precaution, keep the tape away from children, wear gloves when working around hot pipes or exhausts, and allow hot surfaces to cool before wrapping. Isolate electrical power before working on cables or connectors. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.

Scandia Wood Heater Fittings Gasket Adhesive & Sealant is a high-temperature paste made for fixing fibreglass rope seals and gaskets on wood heaters, stoves and fireplaces, supplied in a handy 75g tube. It helps rope seals stay put around door edges and flue joins while you work, then holds them in place once it has dried. This makes it a practical choice for replacing worn seals during heater maintenance.About the formulaA thick, cream to white paste with a firm body that stays where you put it, even on vertical surfaces. The manufacturer rates it for temperatures up to 1100°C, which suits the heat inside a solid fuel appliance. The tube comes with a nozzle that you can cut to suit the width of the seal or gasket you are fitting, so you can lay down a neat, controlled line of adhesive.Where to use itIndoors: fibreglass rope seals on heater and stove doors, flue joins, and other gaskets or glass seals on wood-burning heaters, stoves and fireplaces.Outdoors: the brand also lists wood-burning BBQs among its intended uses.Designed mainly for bonding fibreglass rope seals to the metal and masonry parts of a solid fuel appliance. If you plan to use it on another material, check suitability first with a small test. How to use itMake sure the surface is clean, dry and free of soot, loose debris, oil and old adhesive. Cut the tip of the nozzle to suit the seal you are fitting. Apply a line of paste to the channel or edge where the seal will sit, then press the rope seal or gasket firmly into place. Wipe away any excess before it dries.Important notesAllow the adhesive to dry overnight after application before lighting the appliance. Always follow your heater manufacturer's instructions for the correct seal size and fitting method. Always check the seal is fully seated and the door closes properly after fitting. Some users have found the paste firm to squeeze from the tube, so cutting the nozzle a little wider and applying steady pressure can help.Specifications Brand Scandia Product Wood Heater Fittings Gasket Adhesive & Sealant Size 75g tube Colour Cream to white paste Form Thick paste Application Squeeze tube with cut-to-size nozzle Temperature rating Up to 1100°C Drying time Overnight Use Wood heaters, stoves, fireplaces and wood-burning BBQs SafetyIt advises avoiding heat, flames and sparks during storage and handling, and providing good ventilation or respiratory protection against decomposition products. As a sensible precaution, wear gloves and eye protection, and wash off any skin contact with water. Store in a cool, dry place with the cap closed tightly.
