Loxeal 85-86 Thread Sealant High Temperature Anaerobic Adhesive 50ml
Loxeal 85-86 is a high strength anaerobic adhesive for locking and sealing threaded joints on all metals, in both free and forced matings. It maintains its sealing performance up to +200°C and offers high resistance to thermal shock, vibration, water, gas, oils, fuels, refrigerant fluids and many other chemicals – making it the choice for hot pipework, gas lines and demanding sealing jobs where standard sealants fall short.
Why choose Loxeal 85-86?
- Seals and locks in one step with high mechanical strength
- Keeps sealing up to +200°C (service range -55°C to +200°C)
- Works on all metals, including free and press-fit assemblies
- Resists thermal shock, vibration, fuels, refrigerants and many chemicals
- Generous gap fill up to 0.30 mm on threads up to M56 / 2″
- Green colour, fluorescent under blue light, for easy inspection
Certified and approved
- Approved for gas-tight threaded joints to EN 751-1 (DIN-DVGW)
- WRAS approved for contact with wholesome (potable) water
- Compliant with the UBA (German Environment Agency) declaration for potable water use
- BAM certified as a sealant in the presence of gaseous oxygen up to 20 bar at +60°C
Typical applications
- Sealing threaded joints on gas, steam, hot water and heating pipework
- Potable water fittings (observe the potable-water cure times below)
- Refrigeration, fuel and industrial fluid lines exposed to heat and vibration
How to use
- Clean and degrease both threads with Loxeal Cleaner 10 and allow to dry.
- Apply a continuous bead circumferentially, 1–2 threads back from the leading edge, using enough product to give a complete seal.
- Assemble and tighten the joint, then wipe off any uncured excess.
- Allow to cure before pressurising. On passive surfaces or in cold conditions, pre-treat with Loxeal Activator 11 (this may reduce final strength).
Cure times at +25°C
- Handling strength: 10–40 minutes
- Functional strength: 6–12 hours
- Full cure: 24–36 hours
- Before contact with potable water: allow 24 hours at +20°C for brass, copper and cast iron; 7 days for stainless steel and aluminium

Important notes
- Recommended for metal thread joints only – contact a technical service before use on other materials.
- Do not contaminate the adhesive with metal; cut the nozzle to the required bead size.
- The liquid product can damage coatings, some plastics and elastomers, and may cause stress cracking in some thermoplastics.
- High strength – for disassembly, heat parts to +150°C/+250°C, use normal tools, then remove cured residue mechanically and clean with acetone.
- Store in a cool, dry place at no more than +25°C and do not return used product to the container.
