Description
Dingo Fire Rated Mortar is a ready-to-mix, rapid setting cement mortar made for the high heat areas of pizza ovens, fireplaces and barbeques, supplied here as a 10kg bag. It suits both new builds and patch repairs, so you can use it to build a heat-exposed structure or to fix up an existing one.
About the formula
A cement-based dry mix made from high temperature resistant alumina cement and graded aggregates. You only add clean water, and no other components are needed. The manufacturer rates it for heat resistance up to 800°C, referencing AS 1530.1:1994 (R2016). Once mixed, it sets quickly: the initial set takes about 2 hours and the final set about 3 hours.
Where to use it
Indoors: fireplaces and chimneys, including building them and patching existing masonry.
Outdoors: pizza ovens and barbeques, both new construction and repairs to existing structures.
It is intended for masonry heat-zone work such as pizza ovens, barbeques, fireplaces and chimneys. For any other material or use, check with the manufacturer first.
How to use it
Lay out your project and have all your tools ready before you open the bag. Make sure surfaces are clean, sound and free from oil, grease and loose particles. Tip the amount you need into a clean bucket, then add clean water gradually. A 10kg bag needs roughly 1.6 to 1.7 litres of water. Mix mechanically for at least 3 minutes, using a low speed electric drill with a paddle mixer, until the mix is thorough and even. Use the contents as soon as you can after opening the pack. A 10kg bag makes roughly 6 to 6.5 litres of mortar.
Important notes
Mix only what you can use within the setting window, as the mortar begins to set after about 2 hours. The bag holds 10kg net of dry product, so take care when lifting it. Poor manual handling can cause injury. Prolonged skin contact with the wet mix may cause irritation, dermatitis or alkaline burns.
