Description
Boston Premium PTFE Plumbers Pink Thread Seal Tape is a trade-focused thread sealing tape for water pipe fittings, supplied here as a bulk pack of 10 rolls for plumbers who get through plenty of tape. Each roll is 12mm wide and 10m long, and the pink colouring makes it easy to tell apart from other tapes on the truck or in the toolbox.
About the formula
This is a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) film tape that fills the gap in tapered pipe threads to help prevent leaks at threaded joints. It was developed in Australia for professional plumbers, and it is WaterMark approved to WMTS 014:2016 (licence WMK26374). The tape has a density of 0.8g/cm³ and handles a wide temperature range, from -190°C to +310°C, so it suits both hot and cold water lines.
Where to use it
Indoors: threaded fittings on domestic and commercial water lines, such as taps, valves, unions and connectors.
Outdoors: threaded water connections on garden and irrigation lines and other exposed pipework.
Suitable for the threaded joints of water pipe fittings. Pink tape is intended for water use, so choose a tape that is rated for gas on any gas fitting.
How to use it
Make sure the male thread is clean and dry, and free of old tape, oil and debris. Hold the end of the tape on the thread and wrap it around the thread in the direction the fitting will tighten, so the tape does not unwind when the joint is made up. Overlap each turn slightly, keep the tape pulled snug so it presses into the thread grooves, and leave the first thread clear. Tear off the tape, press the end down, then assemble the joint and tighten as normal.
Important notes
Do not over-tighten, as this can damage fittings. If a joint leaks after assembly, undo it, remove the old tape and rewrap with fresh tape rather than adding more on top. Follow your local plumbing regulations and the fitting manufacturer's instructions for the job.

Safety
Use with normal care and keep the work area tidy so loose tape offcuts do not end up in pipework. Keep out of reach of children and store the rolls in a cool, dry place. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
