Description
Crommelin High UV Resistant Roof and Wall Waterproofing is a premium, liquid-applied elastomeric membrane for exposed, above-ground surfaces, supplied here in a 10L grey pack. It is made for places that cop full sun all year, such as rooftops, walls, parapets and balconies, and it forms a seamless, flexible waterproof coating that can also handle foot traffic.
About the formula
This is a high-performance elastomeric membrane that stays flexible once cured, so it can move with the surface beneath it. Because it goes on as a liquid, it forms one continuous film without laps or joins, which helps give leak-free performance. The manufacturer also lists it as an effective anti-carbonation coating for concrete. It resists dirt pick-up and algal growth, and it can be over-coated with acrylic paints if you want a particular finish. The manufacturer lists compliance with AS 4654.1 (waterproofing membrane systems for exterior use, above ground level, Part 1).
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for interior use. It is made for exposed exterior situations.
Outdoors: roofs and rooftops, exterior walls and facades, parapets, balconies, terraces, vertical surfaces and timber cladding or screening, including on trafficable areas that see regular foot traffic.
Suitable surfaces listed by the manufacturer include concrete, concrete blocks, brickwork, masonry, renders, fibre cement sheeting, compressed cement sheets, timber (hardwood and pine) and suitably prepared metal such as steel and aluminium. Always test a small area first, especially on previously coated or challenging surfaces.
How to use it
Prepare the surface so it is clean, sound and free of dust, grease, loose paint and other contaminants. Metal needs suitable preparation before coating. Apply a test patch to confirm adhesion and appearance, then follow the manufacturer application instructions and technical data sheet for coat numbers, coverage rates and recoat times. If you plan to paint over the membrane, use an acrylic paint.
Important notes
This product is designed for above-ground, UV-exposed use. Check the manufacturer technical data sheet before using it where water will pond or sit permanently, or where it will be covered by tiles. Cure and recoat times depend on temperature, humidity and film thickness, so follow the data sheet rather than guessing. Keep the membrane protected from damage until it has fully cured.
