Description
Dunlop Waterproofing Reinforcing Mat is the quiet workhorse of a Dunlop waterproofing job. This 100mm wide fabric roll is embedded into the wet membrane at every corner, joint and crack, the places where movement and stress are most likely to open up a leak. By carrying the membrane across these weak points, it helps guarantee proper film thickness in the critical zones and lets you apply the second waterproofing coat immediately over the reinforced areas.
Where to use it
Use it indoors in wet areas as an integral part of the Dunlop waterproofing system, together with Dunlop Undertile Waterproofing. Reinforce wall/floor junctions, wall/wall corners, sheet joints, cracks, shower hobs and hob/floor joints, over metal or PVC angles, and along 90-degree external edges such as balcony perimeters.
How to use
Apply the first coat of membrane to the junction, press a length of mat into the wet membrane so it sits flat without air pockets, then coat over the top so the fabric is fully saturated. The mat also acts as a carrier in awkward, hard-to-reach spots and smooths rough joints so the membrane covers evenly. Cut lengths with scissors or a utility knife as you go.
Important notes
The junctions between wall and floor, hob and floor, and vertical corners where two walls meet should always be reinforced. The mat is a reinforcing component, not a standalone waterproofing product; it must be fully encapsulated in membrane.
