Bostik Soft Plastics Adhesive is a strong water-resistant polyurethane-based adhesive, designed for long-lasting repairs of objects made from common soft and flexible plastics. It is quick-drying leaving a clear and almost invisible glue line. Ideal for repair of inflatable swimming pool toys. APPLICATIONS Repair of inflatable toys, plastic raincoats, lilos and vinyl swimming pools. Also suitable as a general-purpose glue for DIY repairs around the house and for arts and craft. ADHESION Adheres to rigid and soft (plasticized) PVC, ABS, Perspex, Polystyrene (solid), Formica polyurethane, and fibreglass. SURFACE PREPARATION Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from all loose materials, dust, dirt, oil, rust and any other contaminants. For improved adhesion, surfaces should be lightly abraded and then wiped with a solvent such as acetone. Poor surface preparation may result in a weak bond and delamination of the substrates along the glue line. HOW TO USE 1. Ensure that surfaces are prepared as above. Wet stick method: 2. Spread an even film of adhesive onto both surfaces. If required, use the PVC patch provided. 3. Leave the surfaces open for approximately 5 minutes, until almost dry. 4. Bring surfaces together firmly until bonded. If necessary, hold together with a clamp or tape. 5. Full strength develops after 24 hours. Dry stick method: 6. This application method achieves the strongest and fastest bond. It is ideal for heavy-duty repairs or when initial high bond strength is required. 7. Spread an even film of adhesive onto both surfaces. Allow drying completely. 8. Re-activate the glue by applying a suitable heat source over the surfaces, e.g. a hairdryer. 9. Once the surfaces are very hot, bring together and press firmly to ensure good contact for about 2 minutes. 10. Depending on the application, the object may be handled immediately. 11. Full strength develops after 24 hours. CLEANING - Wet adhesive can be cleaned with acetone. - Dried adhesive can be removed mechanically or with acetone. If using acetone, check for substrate compatibility prior to use. Instructions Surface Preparation Surfaces to be bonded must be dry, clean and free of grease. If surfaces are non-porous, smooth and glossy, roughen with glass paper (preferably) or apply solvent suck as Acetone As a two way dry stick: Apply an even film onto both substrates, leave 5-10 minutes then join together with as much as possible taking care not to trap any air. As a one way wet stick: Usually, this technique is employed when either one or both of substrates to be bonded are porous (e.g. fabrics, cardboard). Clean Up Any wet or partially wet adhesive can be removed with scraping and Bostik Solvent 9901. The dried adhesive is best removed with a scraper or by sanding. Join surfaces as quickly as possible for optimum bond strength. 9. To bond foam products (polystyrene foam etc) to another surface, apply adhesive in an “S” pattern to the surface to which the foam will be bonded, rather than directly to the foam. 10. To bond fabrics, use a smaller “S” pattern for additional strength. 11. Small drops of glue can be easily removed when cold. 12. Residual glue can be remelted and removed from most bonded surfaces with a warm knife. 13. When you have finished using the gun, switch off and unplug it. 14. Allow the glue stick to remain in the gun – do not remove the stick from the rear of the gun at any time

Glass Metal Wood Fabric Most Plastics How to use this product General Use Before applying the Araldite mixture, all surfaces MUST be thoroughly clean and dry. All traces of grease, rust paint, etc. should be removed. For best results smooth surfaces should be roughened by mechanical abrasion after solvent cleaning. Onto a clean, disposable surface (e.g. polyethylene or cardboard), dispense equal volumes of Part A and Part B. Thoroughly mix together with a spatula, nail or stick. When using the tubes it is essential to use the correct mixing ratio, i.e. 1 part each Apply adhesive immediately to both surfaces and press together. Scrape off excess adhesive and wipe mixing utensils immediately. Ensure correct caps are replaced on each tube or they will adhere. Handy tips Note: For information on how to identify plastics refer to the Selleys plastics guide. For maximum working time, mix in small quantities. Large quantities accelerate the curing process and reduce working time. To extend product life replace caps immediately after use. Ensure you wipe excess from nozzle with a tissue dipped in acetone (or nail polish remover) before replacing cap. When using the tube variant, ensure you replace the correct cap on the correct tube. Placing the wrong cap on the wrong tube will cause the tube to harden. (lids and tubes are colour coded to help) Wipe off any uncured Araldite with acetone or nail polish remover. To remove product after cure, mechanical action (scraping or sanding) is recommended. Since the product is chemically resistant solvent will NOT dissolve this product. To reposition the bond once cured, check that the item is heat resistant. If safe, heat the item slowly, e.g. in an oven, to at least 150oC. The product will soften and liquify slightly. Scrape off any excess then reposition the joint carefully using appropriate safety equipment. Allow the item to cool down in the correct position. The product will reharden once returned to room temperature. Clamping recommended for a stronger bond. Singles are great for those unexpected household breakages, so keep a couple at home just in case. Keep a box of Selleys Sugar Soap Wipes around for quick & effective clean up For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using Selleys Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Methylated Spirits. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as cold paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as Selleys Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product.
