Description
Cyclone Pro Series Foam Spline is a professional quality, foam core spline for fitting fly screen mesh into aluminium screen frames, supplied here as a single 13 metre roll in 5.0mm. The high compression foam core has good shape memory, so the spline seats firmly in the groove and holds the mesh in place. It is a handy choice for new screens and for re-screening tired or damaged ones.
About the product
Cyclone makes this spline in Australia and positions it as a faster-to-install alternative to ribbed spline. The manufacturer says the compressible foam core can make installation up to twice as fast as with ribbed spline. It is also designed to resist shrinkage over time and is UV resistant, which helps it hold up on windows and doors exposed to the sun.
Where to use it
Indoors: re-screening window and door flyscreens where the frame is an aluminium extrusion with a spline groove.
Outdoors: screens on windows, doors and other openings exposed to sun and weather, where UV resistance and low shrinkage matter.
How to use it
- Check that your frame has a spline groove that suits 5.0mm spline before you start.
- Lay the new screen mesh flat over the frame so it covers the groove on all sides.
- Starting at a corner, press the spline into the groove over the mesh with a spline roller (sold separately), keeping the mesh even and not overly tight.
- Work around the frame, then trim off the excess mesh neatly along the outside of the spline.
- Roll length: 13 metres, enough for several standard window screens depending on their size.
Important notes
This listing is for the 5.0mm size only. Cyclone also makes other spline widths and a ribbed spline, so measure your existing spline or groove before ordering. Use a spline roller and take care with trimming tools around the mesh and frame. The roller is not included.

Care and storage
Store the roll in a cool, dry place out of prolonged direct sun until you are ready to use it. Keep it coiled and clean so it stays free of dust and grit that could mark the screen mesh. Keep small offcuts away from young children and pets.
