Description
DETA Blue Insulation PVC Tape is a general-purpose electrical insulating tape in an 18mm x 20m roll, suited to household and industrial wiring jobs. It grips well, wraps neatly and holds up indoors or outdoors, and the blue colour is handy for identifying or colour-coding cables and connections.
About the tape
A flexible PVC film tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is rated for electrical insulation up to 600V and is listed to UL and RoHS approved. It is also lead free. The film is 0.18mm thick, and it resists cold and UV exposure and seals out moisture, so it keeps performing when exposed to the weather. This is a standard insulation tape, not a flame retardant one.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and bundling wire joins, taping cable ends, colour-coding circuits and general repairs to wiring and leads.
Outdoors: protecting and insulating connections and cable runs exposed to sun, cold and moisture.
Suited to wiring, cables and connections in domestic, workshop and industrial settings. Always follow the electrical rules that apply to your job, and have licensed electricians carry out any work that the law requires them to do.
How to use it
Make sure the wire or connection is clean and dry, and isolate the power before you start. Start the wrap a little past the join. Stretch the tape gently as you wind it and overlap each turn so the whole area is covered. Press the end down firmly so it does not lift. Cut the tape rather than tearing it so the edge stays neat.
Important notes
This tape is not flame retardant. It is rated to 600V maximum, so do not use it on higher-voltage applications. Check that the tape suits the conditions and the job before relying on it for a critical or permanent repair.
