Description
DETA Black Insulation PVC Tape is a dependable general-purpose electrical tape for insulating, protecting and tidying wiring, supplied here as a handy five-roll pack so you always have a spare on the toolbelt. Each roll is 18mm wide and 20m long, a standard size that suits household repairs and everyday trade work.
About the tape
A soft, flexible PVC tape with a good grip on clean surfaces and a thickness of 0.18mm. It provides electrical insulation up to 600V and is lead free, UL listed and RoHS approved. The manufacturer also describes it as cold and UV resistant with good weatherability, and it is moisture sealing once wrapped.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and joining wire connections, bundling and tidying cable runs, and making general electrical repairs around the home, workshop or site.
Outdoors: covering and protecting wiring that is exposed to sunlight, cold and damp, thanks to its UV and cold resistance and moisture sealing.
Suitable for use on electrical wiring and cable insulation in domestic and industrial settings. Black is a neat, discreet choice for most cable work.
How to use it
Isolate the power and make sure the wiring is safe to work on. Wipe the surface clean and dry, then start wrapping with the tape lightly stretched. Overlap each turn so there are no gaps, and finish by pressing the end down firmly so it sits flat. Cut the tape rather than tearing it for a cleaner finish.
Important notes
This tape is not flame retardant, so choose a flame retardant tape where that is required. It is rated for electrical insulation up to 600V, so do not use it beyond that rating. Always follow local electrical rules and have fixed wiring work completed by a licensed electrician where required.
