Description
Feast Watson Outdoor Furniture Oil in Clear is a penetrating timber oil made to protect outdoor furniture while keeping the natural look of the wood, supplied here in a 1L can. It soaks into the surface rather than sitting on top, so it leaves a natural matt finish that lets the grain and texture show through.
About the formula
An oil-based, one-component formula enriched with eucalyptus oil. It is designed to resist mould and to give excellent water resistance, and the film is penetrating, so it is not expected to crack or flake. The Clear colour keeps the timber's own tone. It is not recommended for direct sunlight or extreme conditions. If you want a higher level of UV protection, choose one of the tinted colours in the range (Hardwood, Jarrah, Teak or Weathered Grey).
Where to use it
Indoors: not the intended use, as this oil is made for outdoor timber.
Outdoors: timber outdoor furniture such as chairs, tables and benches, plus timber BBQ trolleys.
Suitable for exterior timber furniture. Test a small, hidden area first if you are unsure how your timber will look.
How to use it
Clean the furniture first with Feast Watson Woodclean to remove dirt, oil, wax and grease, then let it dry fully. Stir the oil thoroughly before and during use so the colour stays even. If you need more than one can, combine them in a larger container first. Apply the first coat with a quality brush, working in sections along the grain and fully coating edges and end grain. A roller or applicator pad can also be used. Let the oil soak in, then wipe off any excess with a brush or clean cloth. Leave it for 12 hours before applying a second coat. For chairs and benches, start on the inside of the legs, then move up to the seat and finish with the back. Clean brushes and tools with mineral turpentine.
Important notes
Allow about 12 hours between coats. Touch dry time is around 6 hours at 25°C and 50% humidity, and cooler or more humid conditions will take longer. Do not apply below 10°C, in very hot weather, or when rain or heavy dew is expected while the coating dries. Two coats are recommended, and the manufacturer lists a spread rate of about 6m² per litre, which varies with the timber. Over time, watch for colour loss, dryness and weathering. When that happens, clean with Woodclean and apply one maintenance coat. Soak used rags and cloths in water before disposing of them.
