Description
No Mosquitoes Biting Midge & Mosquito Barrier is a concentrated residual insecticide for keeping mosquitoes and biting midges under control around the yard, and one 1L bottle makes up to 100L of ready-to-spray solution. It was developed by a professional mosquito control business for home use. It leaves a barrier on the surfaces where these insects rest and feed, so pests that land on treated areas keep being killed after the spray has dried.
About the formula
A water-based concentrate with bifenthrin as the active ingredient, mixed with water before use. It is a non-repellent insecticide, meaning the insects are meant to land on the treated surface rather than be driven away. The manufacturer says it will not harm plants or grasses when used as directed, so it can go on ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges and lawn. The pack has a measure-and-pour bottle to make dosing easier. With a thorough application on a well-vegetated yard, control can last up to about 6 weeks. Biting midge areas near tidal water may need more frequent re-treatment.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for indoor use.
Outdoors: shaded foliage, hedges, shrubs, grasses, fences and other outdoor surfaces in urban and semi-rural settings where mosquitoes and midges rest, as specified on the label.
Suitable for both porous and non-porous outdoor surfaces. Always check the label for the full list of approved situations.
How to use it
Read the label first and put on the personal protective equipment it recommends. Mix the concentrate with water at the label rate, which is up to 10 mL per litre of water (100 mL per 10L). Spray harbourage areas thoroughly, covering both sides of leaves, until the surface is wet but just short of run-off. Spray in calm conditions and avoid open flowers. Let the treated area dry and observe the 1-hour re-entry period before using it again.
Important notes
Do not mix stronger than the label rate. A stronger mix does not work better and is not recommended. Not for use with thermal foggers or ULV application. Spray drift and rain before drying can reduce results, so pick a calm, dry day. Reapply when insects start to return, which is generally between 4 and 6 weeks.
