Description
Sika Colma Cleaner is a grease-free, solvent-based cleaner made for wiping down bond faces before bonding or sealing, and for cleaning tools and equipment, supplied here as a 1L can. It is a quick, easy-to-use surface prep step that helps strip away oily and industrial residues so primers, activators, adhesives and sealants have a clean surface to work on.
About the formula
A one-component, solvent-based liquid that is clear and very thin, so it wets a surface quickly and flashes off without leaving a greasy film. Sika designed it to lift traces of mould release oils and other industrial contaminants from non-porous surfaces. It can also be used to clean tools and equipment.
Where to use it
Indoors: workshop and factory pre-cleaning of metal bond faces, and cleaning down tools and application equipment, as long as there is good ventilation and no ignition sources.
Outdoors: on-site pre-cleaning of metal substrates before applying primers, adhesives or sealants, in suitable weather (see temperature range below).
Suitable materials include light metals and alloys, steel and stainless steel.
How to use it
Soak a clean rag or lint-free paper towel with the cleaner and wipe the bonding areas to remove surface contamination. Work with clean cloths so you lift the contamination off rather than spread it around. After a flash-off time of at least 15 minutes, apply the primer or activator specified for your bonding or sealing system, and allow the flash-off time for that product. Reseal the container tightly straight after each use. Use at ambient and substrate temperatures between +5 °C and +40 °C, and at least 3 °C above the dew point. Allow roughly 50 ml per square metre as a guide.
Important notes
Do not use on porous substrates. On painted, plastic or other sensitive surfaces, test a small hidden area first or choose a more suitable cleaner. The flash-off time is a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 8 hours, so apply the next product within that window. Unopened product has a shelf life of 24 months from production when stored in the original sealed container, dry, out of direct sunlight, at +5 °C to +25 °C.

Safety
This is a highly flammable solvent. Keep it away from heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources, and do not smoke while using it. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, avoid breathing vapours, and wear protective gloves, eye protection and suitable protective clothing.
