Wood Timber How to use this product Rebates and grooves should be rigid, free from distortion, true and square, and should be clean, dry and unobstructed before glazing. Rebates and grooves should be of a size which allows adequate edge cover and putty volume. Minimum bed putty – 2mm, minimum front putty – 4mm where timber beads are used, and 2mm bed putty and 12mm front putty where no glazing beads are used. Depth of rebate: 10mm for 3-4mm glass, 15mm for 5-8mm glass. Two coats of good quality house paint should be applied not less than 2 weeks and not more than 4 weeks after completion of glazing. Paint should be carried out 2mm above the top line of the putty. Handy tips Do not use kerosene, turps or other material to aid in working the putty Allow putty to skin before applying paint Product can be applied by hand or with a putty knife. Add a few drops of linseed oil on the hands or knife to make for easier working Putty can thicken in cold weather. Warming the putty by working it in the hands before the application will soften it. Putty must be painted in exterior applications. High humidity, cold weather and use in interior applications can extend skinning times. Putty can separate on prolonged standing. Apply to surface to be repaired (within 12 minutes of mixing) and work the material forcefully into the surface applying pressure until adhesion begins to take effect. Mould to shape if required. If material sticks to fingers, use the plastic wrapper to press the material in place. For a smooth appearance, remove excess and hand rub with water or damp cloth before hardening begins. Trim away any excess before initial hardening. Remove any residues with acetone prior to initial hardening. Hardened excess may be sanded or trimmed away once fully cured. For bonding other materials, apply as for laminated plastics above. When small surface areas are to be joined a wet bond may be used. Ensure that the tube is not squeezed while the seal is being pierced. Replace plastic nozzle. Surfaces to be bonded should fit exactly and should be clean, dry and free of dust, dirt and grease. Apply a drop of Supa Glue to only one of the surfaces to be joined. Use sparingly. Do NOT spread. (Note: One drop covers an area 25mm x 25mm)KEEP FINGERS AWAY FROM EXCESS ADHESIVE SO THEY WILL NOT STICK TOGETHER. Quickly align both surfaces and apply slight pressure to ensure effective spreading and bond. Should you fail to align the surfaces correctly, do not attempt to re-align them and bond together again. Keep apart and completely clean the surfaces (with acetone or nail polish remover). When dry, re-apply adhesive, re-align and bond again. (Please Note: NOT ALL Nail Polish Removers are ACETONE.) Although the adhesive will grab after several minutes to provide sufficient bond strength for practical use, maximum bond strength is achieved after 12 hours. Wipe tip of tube and replace cap. Handy tips Once open, Supa Glue has a limited shelf life (i.e. up to 1 year provided the tip is wiped clean and the cap replaced securely after each use). Supa Glue vapour can produce a whitening effect in enclosed spaces. To avoid this use in well ventilated areas. The whitening effect can be removed by wiping with acetone (first check that the acetone will not damage the surface). To remove from materials, it is recommended that the material be soaked in a solution of acetone and water (i.e. 3 parts acetone to 1 part water). Note: This method should only be used for substrates NOT adversely affected by exposure to solvents. Check a small area before use. Storing in a refrigerator can reduce the risk of hardening in the tube. Also leaving a pin stuck in the (cleaned) nozzle during storage can reduce the risk of the nozzle becoming clogged with cured adhesive which is difficult to clear. One drop covers an area 25mm x 25mm Supa glues cure more slowly when large amounts are used. For faster cure use sparingly. Since Supa Glue cures with moisture set times may be extended on very dry surfaces or under dry conditions. Liquid Nails Fast is a water-based high strength (*) construction adhesive with fast grab and low odour. It has a thick, non-runny consistency and is ideal for adhering timbers and other porous construction materials. After drying it is beige (light tan) in colour. Uses Liquid Nails Fast has high initial (immediate) grab which reduces the need to support joins while the adhesive cures. The initial grab works best with porous surfaces. It will bond to many building materials including MDF, particle board, timber, plaster board, styrene foam, masonry, concrete, tiles, ceramics, metals, plastics*, rubber and glass. Faster results are achieved when at least one surface is porous. Surfaces should not be visibly wet or constantly damp. Oily timber types may need to be wiped with solvent prior to application to remove surface oils. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, as the construction adhesive will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface. When the product is still wet it can be removed with warm soapy water or a damp cloth, otherwise if the product is dry it can be removed by sanding or scraping.

I used Polyfilla Putty on a window frame and have noticed some wrinkling on the surface. Is something wrong with the product? A. No. When this product is used on metal window frames exposed to heat, some surface wrinkling can occur. This will not affect the performance of the putty in any way.

A mix yourself powder wallpaper stripper that helps remove wall coverings including paper-backed types of vinyl and foils. It contains wetting agents to assist the softening of pastes and is easy to apply. Available in: 75g Ready to use: NO (mix with water) • Peel off the top layer of solid or coated types of vinyl or score the face design with coarse sandpaper or a wire brush to allow the stripper to penetrate. • Sprinkle contents of this pack into 3L of hot water, while stirring briskly. • Apply the mixture with brush, sponge or roller to saturate and soak the paper. Wait for a thorough soaking. Do not allow to dry, apply more stripper after 10 min if necessary. • Remove paper and paste residue with a wide scraper. • Repeat procedure if necessary, then wash the surface using the mixture, before rinsing thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry. • Use Poly Wallpaper Paste Powder, to hang depending on the type of wall covering. STORAGE Store in a dry place. What should I do if I start to peel off old wallpaper and it takes some of the plaster surfaces as well? A. Old plaster can become very weak and when you strip off wallpaper it sometimes takes the plaster with it. It's important to use a purpose formulated wallpaper stripping solution such as Poly Wallpaper Remover and not regular liquid soap. This will help to ease the paper off and reduce the chances of damaging the plaster surface. For plaster that has been slightly damaged, use Polyfilla Interior Small Cracks. If the damage is deep, use Polyfilla Interior Large Cracks. Q. How do I remove vinyl wallpaper? A. Initially peel vinyl overlay off the backing paper. Use Poly Wallpaper Remover to soften backing paper then peel off or remove with a paint scraper.
