Description
The AEG 18V 4.8mm Compact Rivet Gun takes the hand-squeezing out of rivet work, with a tool-only (skin) body that suits roofing, metal fabrication and automotive jobs. It is a cordless riveter built around a small brushed motor, so you get strong pulling power in a body short enough to reach into tight spots.
About the product
The motor delivers up to 11kN of pull force, and the compact power screw mechanism keeps the tool short. AEG lists the overall length at 156mm when the mandrel catcher is removed. Without a battery the tool weighs about 1.4kg. It accepts 2.4mm, 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.8mm rivets in aluminium, steel and stainless steel, and AEG also lists copper. Nose pieces and rivet retention nozzles are included for each rivet size.
Where to use it
Indoors: workshop metal fabrication, ducting and sheet metal assembly, and repair work on panels and enclosures.
Outdoors: roofing and guttering fixings, and automotive riveting jobs.
Suitable for riveting aluminium, steel, stainless steel and copper rivets from 2.4mm to 4.8mm into sheet metal and similar fabricated work.
How to use it
- Fit the nose piece or retention nozzle that matches your rivet size, using the wrench built into the mandrel catcher.
- Insert the rivet mandrel into the nozzle, position the rivet in the pre-drilled hole and squeeze the trigger to set it.
- The mandrel catcher collects spent mandrels. It holds up to 300 mandrels of 1/8 inch (3.2mm) size and can be removed to shorten the tool for tight spaces.
- Clip the lanyard hook to a tether when working at height, and use the LED sight light to light up the work piece.
- The belt hook gives you a handy place to park the tool between rivets.
Important notes
This is a skin only product. The battery and charger are sold separately, and the tool runs on AEG 18V batteries. Match the nozzle to the rivet diameter, and empty the mandrel catcher regularly. Do not exceed the rivet sizes and materials listed above.

Care and storage
Remove the battery before changing nozzles or clearing a jammed mandrel. Wear safety glasses when riveting, and keep fingers clear of the nose. Empty the mandrel catcher and wipe off metal swarf after use. Store the tool in a dry place away from moisture, and keep it out of reach of children.
