The Arlo Essential Security Camera 3rd Gen is a battery-powered 2K smart camera that sends AI-filtered alerts to your phone, supplied here as a single-camera pack. It is built to cut down on false alarms, so you hear about the events that matter rather than every passing movement. Because it runs wire-free, you can place it almost anywhere around the home.
About the product
The camera records sharp 2K video (2560 x 1440) with a wide 130 degree diagonal field of view and 12x digital zoom, so you can pick out details like faces, clothing or labels. Colour night vision helps you keep seeing detail after dark, and an integrated spotlight adds extra light when needed. Arlo's AI generates short written descriptions of each clip, so you can tell what happened without opening the video. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) gives you a choice of connection, and the camera works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Where to use it
Indoors: entrances, hallways, living areas or garages where you want a quick check-in from your phone.
Outdoors: front doors, driveways, side gates and yards, thanks to its weather-resistant, wire-free design.
How to use it
- Download the Arlo Secure app, create an account and pair the camera over Bluetooth, then connect it to your Wi-Fi. Setup usually takes only a few minutes.
- Mount it on a wall with the supplied bracket and screws, or place it on a flat surface. Charge the integrated battery with the USB charging cable.
- Use live view, zoom and two-way audio with noise-cancelling to speak with visitors, and trigger the built-in siren if you spot something suspicious.

Important notes
Arlo Secure includes 30 days of cloud video clip storage. Arlo Secure features, including cloud storage and the advanced AI detections, need an active Arlo Secure subscription, and you must renew it to keep them. Battery life varies with settings, usage and temperature. A working Wi-Fi network is needed for remote viewing and alerts.

Care and storage
Wipe the camera and lens gently with a soft, damp cloth and keep the lens clear of dust and cobwebs for the best picture. Charge the battery with the supplied cable and avoid leaving the camera in extreme heat for long periods. Store in a cool, dry place if removed from service, and keep out of reach of young children.
