Description
Artko Artists Epoxy Resin is a two-part, 1:1 mix casting and coating resin for resin art, supplied here as a 1 litre kit with a starter set of accessories. It cures to a crystal clear, glass-like finish and is aimed at hobbyists and artists who want a simple mix ratio and a smooth, self-levelling result.
About the formula
A two-part epoxy system made up of 500ml of resin (Part A) and 500ml of hardener (Part B), mixed in equal parts by volume. It is described as odourless, free of VOCs and BPA, and it contains a UV stabiliser to help resist yellowing over time. It self-levels to a flat, glossy surface and is heat resistant up to 80°C. The kit also includes a silicone mat (40cm x 30cm), a square silicone mould, gloves and pipettes, so you can start pouring straight away.
Where to use it
Indoors: resin art and pour paintings, coasters, trays, jewellery, keepsakes and small decorative pieces cast in silicone moulds.
Coating and embedding: sealing and preserving items such as photographs, paper, shells and dried flowers under a clear glossy layer.
Suitable materials include wood, metal, glass, silicone moulds, paper, photographs, shells and dried flowers. Always test on an offcut or a small area first, particularly on porous or unusual surfaces.
How to use it
Work in a well-ventilated area on a level surface, and protect your bench with the silicone mat. Measure equal parts of resin and hardener into a clean disposable cup or silicone mixing cup. Stir slowly for about 5 minutes until the mix runs clear, scraping the sides and base of the cup. If you want colour or sparkle, add mica powder or glitter a little at a time at this stage. Pour into a mould or onto a flat surface and leave undisturbed to cure. Warming the sealed bottles in warm water for about 30 minutes before mixing can help reduce bubbles. A heat gun or a toothpick can be used to pop any bubbles that rise to the surface.
Important notes
The supplier gives a cure time at 25°C of about 3 to 4 hours to touch dry and about 12 to 24 hours to fully cure. Cooler rooms will slow this down. Accurate 1:1 measuring is essential, as an incorrect ratio can leave the resin soft or tacky. Keep dust, moisture and pets away while it cures. Multiple thin layers are better than one very deep pour. Cured resin is not intended for contact with food unless the manufacturer states otherwise. Clean tools before the resin cures, as cured epoxy is very hard to remove.

Safety
Epoxy resins and hardeners can irritate skin and eyes and may cause an allergic skin reaction in some people with repeated contact. Wear the supplied gloves, protect your eyes, and work in a well-ventilated space. Avoid skin contact, and wash any splashes off straight away with soap and water. Keep out of reach of children and store the sealed bottles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
