Description
Crommelin Silicone WP Plus is a neutral cure silicone sealant made for wet areas, and it doubles as a bond breaker in Crommelin liquid applied waterproofing systems. This white 300g cartridge suits kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and similar jobs. It stays permanently flexible once cured and contains a mould and mildew inhibitor, so it holds up well in damp, steamy spaces.
About the formula
A one-part, neutral cure silicone, so there is no mixing. The neutral cure chemistry will not corrode concrete or zinc coated and galvanised steel. It has a sag resistant body that can be used in vertical and overhead joints. Once cured it resists weathering, UV and vibration, and it is suitable for contact with aluminium shower screens. It can be used as a bond breaking sealant at joints, junctions and corners under waterproofing membranes, or as a durable finishing sealant.
Where to use it
Indoors: around showers, bath tubs, sinks, laundry fixtures, sanitary ware and spas, plus bond breaking joints in wet area waterproofing.
Outdoors: exterior finishing joints and roof and gutter sealing, where the sealant is exposed to weather.
Suitable materials include glass, glazed tiles and ceramics, steel and aluminium (suitably prepared), concrete, render, brickwork and blockwork, natural stone, fibre cement sheet and plasterboard. Use it only on clean, sound surfaces.
How to use it
Make sure the joint is clean, dry and free of dust, grease, soap residue and loose material. Cut the nozzle to suit the joint size, load the cartridge into a caulking gun and apply a continuous bead, then tool it smooth. Where it is used as a bond breaker in a waterproofing system, apply it at all joints, junctions, angles and internal corners before the membrane goes on. Important notes
The cured silicone is not paintable, and it should not be used on freshly painted surfaces. Do not use it where it will contact food or potable water. Avoid materials that bleed oils, plasticisers or solvents, because they can affect adhesion. Keep it away from the silver backing of mirrors, such as at mirror edges. It is not a fire rated sealant. Silicone needs moisture in the air to cure, so it will not cure in a sealed, moisture-free environment.
