Description
Crommelin Sprayable Exterior Grade Waterproofing is a ready-to-spray rubberised coating for sealing leaks and cracks on outdoor surfaces, supplied here as a 400ml aerosol can in white. It is made for spots that cop regular rain and sun, and it dries to a flexible, watertight layer that can be painted over with most acrylic paints.
About the formula
A rubberised waterproofing coating in a pressurised can, so there is no brush, roller or mixing involved. The spray works its way into small holes and cracks to stop water getting through, helps block moisture penetration, and gives metal surfaces a barrier against corrosion. The manufacturer describes it as UV stable, weather resistant (it does not fade or yellow), fast drying and permanently flexible. The white finish suits light-coloured roofing and masonry.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for interior use, as this is an exterior grade product.
Outdoors: roofs and gutters, chimneys, skylights, block and brickwork, and hoses, air conditioner drip pans and ductwork.
Suitable materials include metal (steel and aluminium), concrete and masonry, roofing materials, timber and particleboard, PVC piping and fibreglass.
How to use it
Make sure the surface is clean, sound and free of dust, grease, curing compounds, release agents, loose particles, efflorescence and any other contaminants. Crommelin recommends its Water Rinsable Degreaser for removing grease and oils. Shake the can well, then spray the area to be sealed following the directions on the can. Once the coating has dried it can be over-painted with most acrylic paints. Full application instructions are available on the Crommelin website.
Important notes
This product has not been tested for use in potable water systems, so do not use it on drinking water tanks or pipework. It is an exterior grade coating and is not designed as an under-tile or interior wet area membrane. Check the can and the manufacturer's data sheet for drying and recoating times and for surface or ambient temperature limits before starting.

Safety
The can may burst if heated. Use only in well-ventilated areas, avoid breathing the spray, and keep away from heat, sparks, flames and other ignition sources. Wear gloves and eye protection, and remove any contaminated clothing and splashes from skin straight away. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, do not expose to temperatures above 50°C, and keep out of reach of children. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
