Description
Cyclone Pet Mesh is a tough polyester flyscreen made for doors and windows that take a beating from pets and kids, supplied here as a 910mm wide x 2m long roll. It suits households where paws, claws and small hands regularly push against the screen, and where ordinary fibreglass mesh tends to tear or bag out.
About the product
Pet Mesh uses a heavy-gauge polyester weave that is thermo-bonded, so the strands stay straight and do not warp. It is built to resist tearing from the raking claws of most dogs and cats, and it has enough flexibility to take knocks and impacts without being damaged. The supplier lists it as roughly six times stronger than standard fibreglass flyscreen and describes it as weather resistant, so it will not rot, shrink or stain. Cyclone also recommends it for severe sea-shore corrosion zones, such as surf beach shoreline regions with very high salt deposition.
Where to use it
Indoors: screen doors and windows in busy family areas, laundries, kitchens and rooms with pets.
Outdoors: patio and alfresco doors, windows on exposed or coastal homes, and other openings that need protection from insects.
Suitable for residential windows and doors. Cyclone notes that this screen can form part of a complete window system designed to meet building code fall-protection requirements (AS 5203:2016). The screen alone does not provide this, so check the full system requirements for your project.
How to use it
The roll is cut to size and fitted into a new or existing screen frame, usually with a spline and a spline roller. Typical steps:
- Remove the old screen and spline from the frame and wipe the channel clean.
- Lay the mesh over the frame, leaving a small overlap on every side.
- Press the spline into the channel to hold the mesh, keeping it square and evenly tensioned.
- Trim the excess with a sharp utility knife and refit the frame.
Spline and a roller tool are not included, and are sold separately.
Important notes
Pet Mesh is made for residential screen frames. Avoid over-tensioning the mesh during installation, as this can bow the frame. Measure your frame carefully before cutting, as a cut roll cannot be rejoined. Roll length is 2m, so check that it covers your frame before you start.

Care and storage
Clean the mesh with a soft brush or a damp cloth and mild soapy water, then let it dry. Avoid sharp tools and harsh abrasives on the weave. Keep the unused roll flat or loosely rolled in a dry place, away from sharp objects, and avoid creasing it so it fits its frame neatly later.
