Cyclone Pro Foam Spline 5.7mm x 30m (Fly Screen Spline)

Description

Cyclone Pro Foam Spline is a professional quality foam core spline for fitting fly screen mesh into aluminium screen frames, supplied here as a single 30 metre roll in the 5.7mm size. Its high compression foam core and shape memory make it quicker to push into the frame groove than a ribbed spline, so it suits both home re-screening jobs and busy trade work.

About the product
Part of the Cyclone Pro Series, this spline is made in Australia. The foam core compresses as it is rolled into the groove, then springs back to hold the screen mesh firmly in place. It is designed to resist shrinkage over time and is UV resistant for long service life in sun-exposed screens. Cyclone rates it as around twice as fast to install as ribbed spline.

Where to use it
Indoors: replacing damaged or sagging mesh in aluminium flyscreen frames on windows and doors, and in screens you can remove and work on at a bench.
Outdoors: screens exposed to sun and weather, such as window and door flyscreens and other aluminium screen frames with a spline groove.

Best suited to synthetic insect screening fitted into aluminium extrusions with a matching groove width (check your frame before buying). For doors and patios that take heavy knocks, a ribbed spline may suit better.

How to use it

  • Remove the old spline and mesh and clean out the spline groove.
  • Lay the new mesh over the frame, keeping it square and free of wrinkles.
  • Starting at a corner, press the foam spline into the groove over the mesh using a spline roller, working steadily around the frame.
  • Trim off the excess mesh with a sharp blade and cut the spline to length at the end of the run.
A spline roller makes the job easier, such as Cyclone's Roll 'n' Feed roller, which works with foam or ribbed spline (sold separately).

Important notes
Check that the 5.7mm width suits your frame's groove before you start, as the wrong size can leave the mesh loose or make the spline hard to seat. Spline is a replacement part only and does not include screen mesh or a roller tool. Use steady, even pressure when rolling and avoid stretching the mesh tight, which can distort the frame.
