Description
The Cyclone Roll 'N' Feed Spline Roller is a hand tool that feeds the spline into the frame channel as you roll, so replacing a synthetic flyscreen takes less time and less fiddling. It suits DIYers re-screening windows and doors. Cyclone says it can cut installation time in half compared with a standard roller.
About the product
Most spline rollers push the spline in while you hold the reel separately. This one has a built-in feed, so the spline runs through the tool and sits in the channel in a single pass. It works with foam or ribbed spline in the 4 to 6mm range.
Where to use it
Indoors: re-screening window and door frames from the inside of the workshop, garage or bench before the frame goes back in.
Outdoors: on-site screen repairs or replacements on flyscreen frames, patio screens and similar aluminium frames with a spline channel.
It is designed for synthetic insect screens, such as fibreglass or similar mesh, where pre-creasing the screen into the channel is not needed. It is not intended for metal screens that need pre-creasing.
How to use it
- Lay the new synthetic screen over the frame, leaving a little extra mesh past the channel edge.
- Pass the end of the spline into the Roll 'N' Feed roller. It feeds through the tool as you roll.
- Start at a corner and roll the spline and screen into the channel along each side of the frame.
- Keep the screen smooth and evenly tensioned as you go, then trim the excess mesh neatly along the spline.
Important notes
This tool is for 4 to 6mm foam or ribbed spline. It is made for synthetic screens, so use a roller with a pre-creasing wheel if you are fitting metal mesh. Spline and screen mesh are sold separately.
