Cyclone Timber Handle Spline Roller for 4-6mm Spline (Single)

Description

The Cyclone Timber Handle Spline Roller is a classic two-wheel tool for fitting and repairing fly screens, with a comfortable hardwood handle and wheels that suit both metal and synthetic mesh. It is one of the most widely used screening tools around, and it covers the two jobs you do on every screen: creasing the mesh into the frame groove and pressing the spline in to lock it.

About the product
One end carries a convex (rounded) nylon wheel used to pre-crease the screen into the frame channel, which is especially handy with metal mesh. The other end carries a concave nylon wheel shaped to seat 4 to 6mm spline neatly in the groove. The handle is contoured hardwood, giving a secure, comfortable grip while you work along the frame.

Where to use it
Indoors: re-screening window and door fly screen frames at the workbench or kitchen table.
Outdoors: refitting screens on sliding doors, security-style screen doors and window frames around the home, patio and verandah.

Features

  • Contoured hardwood handle for comfort and control
  • Convex wheel for pre-creasing metal screen mesh
  • Concave wheel for rolling spline into the frame groove
  • Works with foam or ribbed spline in the 4 to 6mm range
  • Suits both metal and synthetic fly screen mesh

How to use it
Lay the new mesh over the frame, leaving a little extra overhang on every side. Run the convex wheel along the groove to crease the mesh into the channel, which is a particularly useful step with metal screen. Then lay the spline over the groove and roll it in with the concave wheel, working steadily around the frame and keeping the mesh evenly tensioned. Trim off the excess mesh outside the spline with a sharp knife once the spline is fully seated.

Important notes
Sold as a single roller. Spline and screen mesh are not included. Choose spline within the 4 to 6mm range for the best fit in the concave wheel. Take care not to over-tension the mesh as you roll, as this can distort the frame.
