Deks Duo Bond Two-Part Epoxy Jointing Putty Compound 1L (2 x 500ml Tins)

Description

Deks Duo Bond is a two-part epoxy jointing putty made for plumbers, pool technicians and serious DIYers, supplied here as a 1 litre kit with a 500ml tin of base and a 500ml tin of hardener. Once mixed, it forms a thick, putty-like compound that bonds and fills large voids, and it sets hard like concrete. It is also approved for drinking water use in Australia, so it suits both water infrastructure and everyday repairs.

About the formula
A two-part epoxy system built around an epoxy resin base and a separate hardener. The mixed material has a heavy, putty-like body that holds its shape, which makes it well suited to jointing, patching and filling work where a runny adhesive would not stay put. It can be applied above water or while submerged. The product carries AS/NZS 4020 drinking water and WaterMark (WMTS-014) certification.

Where to use it
Indoors: jointing cast iron soil, waste and ventilation pipes and fittings, and general repairs to concrete, metal and steel.
Outdoors: swimming pool crack repairs, concrete and masonry repairs, and fixing metal fissures and steel fractures.

Suitable materials include cast iron, steel and other metals, and concrete. The manufacturer describes it as suitable for many material types, provided surfaces are clean, dry and free of oil and grease. Test on an offcut first if you are unsure about a particular surface.

How to use it
Clean the repair area so it is free of oil, grease, loose material and dirt. Mix the base and hardener thoroughly until the colour is even, following the mixing instructions supplied with the pack. Press the mixed putty firmly into the joint, crack or void and tool it to shape. Wear gloves and eye protection while mixing and applying. Mix only as much as you can use before it starts to set.

Important notes
The compound is stiff and takes some effort to mix by hand, so allow time for thorough mixing. Working time and full cure time depend on temperature and batch size, so check the technical data sheet for the exact figures before starting a critical repair. Both parts must be mixed together before use, and uncured material should be kept out of drains and waterways.
