Description
The Deks Rapid Flash Self-Adhesive Repair Strip is a lead-free, black flashing strip made for quick, temporary fixes to leaking roofs and gutters, supplied as a single 140mm x 500mm strip. It is a handy item to keep on hand when you need to stop a leak from a cracked tile or a damaged gutter until a permanent repair can be done.
About the formula
The strip is made from a rubber-based polymer with an integrated aluminium mesh. It has a fully adhesive base, so it goes on without separate sealants or fixings. The black finish suits most roof colours and materials. Deks lists the strip as suitable for all roof and gutter profiles and for most roof and gutter materials. It is lead-free, and you can cut it to size with heavy-duty scissors.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for interior use.
Outdoors: temporary repairs to leaking gutters, cracked roof tiles and other roof leaks on a range of roof profiles and materials.
Suitable materials include metal roofing and gutters, tile roofs and fibreglass sheeting. Deks describes the strip as suiting most roof and gutter materials, so test a small area first on unusual or heavily weathered surfaces.
How to use it
Clean the repair area and let it dry fully, removing dirt, dust, loose debris and flaking material. Measure the area to be covered and cut the strip to length with heavy-duty scissors. Remove the backing from the adhesive face, position the strip over the leak and press it down firmly, working it into the roof or gutter profile so the adhesive bonds across the whole contact area. Always follow any instructions that come with the pack.
Important notes
This is designed as a quick, temporary repair, so plan a permanent fix when conditions allow. Surface preparation matters, because the adhesive needs a clean, dry surface to grip. Take care when working at height, and be careful with cut edges of the aluminium mesh.

Safety
Wear gloves when cutting and handling the strip, and watch for sharp mesh edges. Store the strip flat or rolled in a cool, dry place out of direct sun until you need it. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
