Description
The DETA Black Flame Retardant PVC Tape is a general-purpose electrical insulation tape for tidying, insulating and protecting wiring, supplied here as a single 18mm x 20m roll. It suits both household and industrial electrical jobs, and the flame retardant grade gives extra peace of mind on cable work around the home, workshop or site.
About the tape
A black PVC film tape with a 0.18mm thickness, designed to grip well and insulate electrical connections up to 600V. It is lead free, UL listed and RoHS approved, and it is built to handle weather exposure, with resistance to UV and cold for reliable performance outdoors. The flame retardant formulation sets it apart from DETA's standard insulation tape, and it also helps seal out moisture.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and wrapping wire joins, bundling and colour-coding cable runs, and protecting wiring in switchboards, appliances and workshops.
Outdoors: wrapping and protecting cable connections exposed to sun, rain and cooler conditions, such as garden lighting, outdoor fittings and site wiring.
Designed for use on electrical wire and cable. Always follow local electrical regulations, and have licensed work carried out by a qualified electrician where required.
How to use it
Make sure the wire or cable surface is clean and dry, and that the power is isolated before you start. Begin the wrap slightly beyond the area to be covered, then apply the tape with light tension and overlap each turn so there are no gaps. Finish by pressing the end down firmly so it stays in place.
Important notes
Rated for electrical insulation up to 600V. Do not use it beyond its rated voltage. It is intended as insulation and protection for wiring and is not a substitute for approved connectors or fittings where those are required. Flame retardant does not mean fireproof.
