Description
DETA Flame Retardant PVC Insulation Tape is a 600V-rated electrical tape for domestic and industrial wiring jobs, supplied here as a value 10-pack of assorted colour rolls. Each roll is 18mm wide and 20m long, so you can colour-code and insulate across a whole job without running short.
About the tape
A soft, flexible PVC film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, made for dependable adhesion and electrical insulation. The tape is flame retardant, lead free, RoHS approved and UL listed. It is only 0.18mm thick, which keeps wrapped joints neat, and it handles cold conditions and UV exposure, so it holds up both inside and out.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and bundling wiring in switchboards, light fittings and appliances, and colour-coding conductors and circuits.
Outdoors: protecting and insulating cable joints exposed to sun, weather and cooler conditions.
Suited to wrapping over cable insulation, conductors and wiring harness joints for electrical insulation, identification and general protection. Moisture sealing is part of the tape's rated performance.
How to use it
Isolate the power before you start. Make sure the area to be wrapped is clean and dry. Start the wrap a little beyond the section to be covered, then apply the tape with a slight stretch. Overlap each turn by about half the tape width for even coverage, and finish a little past the end of the joint. Press the end down firmly so it stays in place, then cut the tape rather than tearing it.
Important notes
This is an insulating tape rated to 600V. Do not use it above that voltage, and do not rely on it as a replacement for approved connectors or fittings. Electrical work should be carried out by a licensed electrician where the law requires it. DETA lists its PVC tape range as suitable up to 80°C. Keep the tape away from sources of heat that exceed this rating.

Safety
Always switch off and isolate power before taping any wiring. Store the rolls in a cool, dry place out of direct sun, and keep them out of reach of children. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
