Description
The DETA White Insulation PVC Tape is a general-purpose electrical tape for insulating, wrapping and colour-marking wiring, supplied here as a single 18mm x 20m roll. It suits both household and industrial jobs, and its UV and cold resistance means it can be used inside or out.
About the tape
A soft, flexible PVC film with a self-adhesive backing, 0.18mm thick. It is rated for electrical insulation up to 600V and is UL listed and RoHS approved, so it is lead free. It seals out moisture and is designed to hold its grip and weather well over time. This is the standard (non flame retardant) version, and white is handy for phase marking and tidy colour coding.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and bundling wires, protecting splices and terminations, and colour-coding cables in switchboards, appliances and general wiring.
Outdoors: wrapping and protecting connections exposed to sun, damp and cooler conditions, such as garden lighting, sheds and outbuildings.
It works well on PVC-insulated conductors and cables, and it is also handy for general harnessing and identification tasks.
How to use it
Isolate the power first. Clean and dry the surface so it is free of dust, oil and moisture. Start the tape slightly past the area you want to cover, then wrap it in overlapping turns with light, even tension so it conforms to the shape. Finish a little beyond the end of the joint and press the tail down firmly. Use more layers where extra protection is needed. Electrical work should be carried out by a licensed electrician where the law requires it.
Important notes
This is a standard PVC insulation tape and is not flame retardant. It is not a substitute for a rated connector or enclosure where one is required. Store rolls in a cool, dry place out of direct sun so the adhesive stays in good condition.

Safety
Always switch off and isolate the power before working on any wiring, and make sure the work is suitable for the circuit you are dealing with. Keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry place. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
