Description
DETA Insulation PVC Tape is a general-purpose electrical tape for domestic and industrial wiring jobs, supplied here as a handy 5 pack of assorted colour rolls, each 18mm wide and 20m long. The mixed colours make it easy to tidy up, identify and insulate separate runs, and the soft PVC film conforms well around cables and joins.
About the formula
A PVC film tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, designed to grip well and insulate electrical connections up to 600V. It is lead free, RoHS approved and UL listed, and the film is only 0.18mm thick, so it wraps neatly. It resists cold and UV exposure, seals out moisture and holds up well in the weather. Note that this is a standard insulation tape and is not flame retardant.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and bundling low voltage and mains-rated wiring joins, tidying cable runs, and general repairs around the home, workshop or site.
Outdoors: protecting and insulating exposed cable joins and connections, where its cold and UV resistance and moisture sealing help it cope with the elements.
Suited to wrapping over PVC and other cable insulation, bare conductor joins (once connected and made safe) and common electrical fittings. For fixed wiring, always follow local regulations and use a licensed electrician where required.
How to use it
Make sure the circuit is isolated and the surface is clean, dry and free of oil, grease and dust. Start the tape on the cable, then stretch it lightly as you wrap, overlapping each turn so the join is fully covered and the end sits flat. Press the tail down firmly. Cut the tape rather than tearing it so the end does not lift.
Important notes
Rated for electrical insulation up to 600V only. Not a flame retardant tape, so choose a flame retardant product where one is specified. Do not use it as a substitute for correct connectors, enclosures or approved repairs on damaged cable. Colours in the pack are assorted, so the mix may vary.

Safety
