Description
DETA Insulation PVC Tape in yellow is a general-purpose electrical tape for insulating, colour-coding and protecting wiring, supplied as a single 20m roll that is 18mm wide. It suits both household and industrial wiring jobs and is rated for use indoors and outdoors.
About the tape
A flexible PVC tape with a self-adhesive backing that grips well and gives dependable electrical insulation up to 600V. The film is 0.18mm thick, resists UV and cold, and seals out moisture, so it holds up when exposed to the weather. It is UL listed, RoHS approved and made lead free. This is the standard version, so it is not flame retardant.
Where to use it
Indoors: insulating and bundling wire joins, colour-coding cables and phases, and covering minor abrasions on wire insulation.
Outdoors: protecting cable connections and joins that are exposed to sunlight, cooler temperatures and damp conditions.
Suitable for wrapping around wire and cable insulation, terminals and connectors. Yellow makes it handy for marking and identifying circuits or cables.
How to use it
Make sure the power is isolated first. Wipe the cable or connection so it is clean and dry. Start wrapping slightly past the joint and keep an even tension as you go. Overlap each turn by about half the tape width, then finish a little past the end of the joint and press the tail down firmly. Check that the wrap is snug with no gaps or lifted edges.
Important notes
This tape is a standard (non-flame-retardant) grade, so choose a flame-retardant tape if your job calls for one. Electrical work should be carried out by a licensed person where the law requires it. The tape is intended for insulation up to 600V.
