Description
The DEWALT Red Cross Line Laser Level (DW08802-XJ) is a compact, self-levelling laser that projects a crisp horizontal and vertical red line for quick, accurate set-out. It suits tradies and keen DIYers who want straight, level results on jobs like fitting a kitchen, tiling a bathroom, hanging plasterboard, framing or painting.
About the product
This cross line laser casts one horizontal and one vertical red line, with a working range of 12m. A pendulum-style self-levelling mechanism does the hard work of finding level, and a locking switch holds that mechanism in place when the tool is carried or stored so it is protected from knocks. The body has rubber overmoulding for added protection and is drop tested from 1 metre. An IP54 rating gives it resistance to dust and splashing water on busy worksites.
Where to use it
Indoors: setting tile courses and splashback lines, aligning cabinets and shelving, marking plasterboard and ceiling lines, and lining up painting or wallpapering work.
On site: framing and general set-out work where a quick, repeatable reference line saves time. Red beams are easiest to see in moderate light, so indoor and shaded work gives the best visibility.
How to use it
- Fit the two AA alkaline batteries supplied.
- Place the laser on a flat surface, mount it on the integrated pivoting magnetic base, hang it from the hang hole, or fit it to a tripod using the 1/4 inch thread.
- Unlock the pendulum with the switch and let the laser settle. It will self-level within its working range.
- Mark your reference points along the projected lines.
- Lock the pendulum again before moving the tool or putting it back in its case.
Important notes
Stated accuracy is +/- 6mm at 10m, so check the tool against a known reference before critical work. Do not look into the beam or point it at other people. The IP54 rating covers dust and splashes only, so do not submerge the tool. DEWALT lists a 3 year warranty on this model: 1 year as standard, plus a further 2 years when the product is registered online.

Care and storage
Lock the pendulum before transport and storage, and keep the laser in its case when not in use. Wipe the body clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth, and remove the batteries if the tool will be stored for a long period. Store in a dry place away from extreme heat, and keep out of reach of children.
