Dulux Avista Epoxy Concrete Crack Repair Kit 1.5L (Part A & B)

Description

Dulux Avista Epoxy Concrete Crack Repair Kit is a two-part epoxy system for filling cracks in concrete, supplied here as a 1.5L Part A and Part B kit. You mix the low viscosity resin with clean, fine sand to make an epoxy mortar for minor cracks in driveways, paths, patios and other concrete surfaces.

About the formula
A solvent-free, general purpose epoxy resin system made up of a resin (Part A) and a hardener (Part B). Because you add the sand yourself, you can change the consistency of the mortar to suit the job, from a pourable mix for fine cracks to a thicker, trowelable mix. The manufacturer reports that it develops early hardness, which helps limit disruption to the repaired area. It is also unaffected by a wide range of acids, alkalis and industrial chemicals. Depending on the mix consistency, compressive strength reaches up to 90MPa. The cured repair can be overcoated with Dulux Avista Resin Epoxy, tinted Dulux Avista Waterbased Epoxy or Dulux Avista Resurfacing products.

Where to use it
Indoors: minor cracks in concrete floors and slabs.
Outdoors: cracks in concrete driveways, paths, patios and similar hard-landscaped surfaces, including repairs ahead of decorative concrete coatings.

Suitable for filling minor cracks in concrete only. It is not designed as a patch compound for larger spalled or broken areas.

How to use it
Chase the crack out with an angle grinder fitted with a V segment blade, to a depth of about 10mm and a width of about 5mm. Clean the area with a general purpose cleaner and a pressure cleaner, and acid wash the concrete as part of the cleaning. Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly, then stir in clean fine sand until you reach the consistency you need. The amount of sand varies with the sand type and the mix you want, so follow the manufacturer's Technical Data Sheet for the mix designs. Pour or trowel the mortar into the crack and finish it level. If you plan to overcoat, the manufacturer suggests broadcasting sand over the repair while it is still wet to create a coarse key. Remove uncured material from tools with Avista Solvent.

Important notes
Only mix as much as you can use before the mix starts to set. Published pot life figures vary between sources, so check the Technical Data Sheet and work in small batches. The manufacturer gives an approximate cure time of 12 hours, depending on ambient conditions. Movement or expansion in the concrete can cause cracks to reappear over time, and the manufacturer notes that the success of any crack repair cannot be guaranteed. Store in the original unopened packs in dry conditions away from direct sunlight and moisture. Shelf life is 5 years when stored between 10°C and 25°C, and may be shorter if stored at high temperatures. Sand is not included.
