Description
Dunlop Flexible FC Jointing Compound in the 8kg trade pail is a premixed, flexible jointing compound for fibre cement sheet and blueboard, formulated to prepare sheet joints before decorative coatings, texture finishes or render go on. Ready to use straight from the container, it removes mixing from the workflow entirely and keeps a consistent, workable body from the first trowel-load to the last. Its flexible acrylic formulation moves with the substrate to resist joint cracking, while strong adhesion keys the compound firmly to the sheet surface.
Where to use it
For jointing fibre cement sheeting and blueboard on interior and exterior walls — cladding, facades, garage conversions, extensions and commercial sheeted walls — prior to painting, texture coating or rendering. The larger pail suits whole-wall and multi-room jobs where a 3kg pack would run short.
How to use
Check that sheets are rigidly fixed and joints are clean, dry and dust-free. Apply the compound over each joint with a trowel or broad knife, embedding jointing tape where the sheet manufacturer requires it, then finish with a band approximately 75mm wide and 1mm thick, feathered smooth at the edges. Allow to dry completely before over-coating. Wet compound cleans off tools with water. Coverage is approximately 7 lineal metres per kilogram at 75mm width and 1mm thickness, so an 8kg pail joints in the order of 55 lineal metres.
Important notes
Designed movement joints should be finished with a flexible sealant rather than jointing compound. Drying slows in cold or humid weather. Keep the lid sealed between uses and do not thin the product with water.
