Description
Dunlop Tile Pointing is a flexible, premixed pointing compound that acts as a mechanical adhesive for hip and ridge roof tiles, exceeding the requirements of the relevant Australian Standards. Independently tested to achieve a C4 classification, it is approved for use in cyclonic regions, and its low-VOC formula resists mould and mildew while flexing with normal roof movement. Available in five roof-matched colours and backed by a 10 year guarantee, it is the straightforward way to re-point ridge capping and secure hip tiles without mixing mortar additives on site.
Where to use it
For exterior roofing work only — pointing hip and ridge tiles over fresh or sound existing bedding on concrete and terracotta tiled roofs. Choose the colour that best matches your tiles: Slate Grey, Charred Ash, Jet Black, Sand or Terracotta.
How to use
Before application, ensure all bedding material is in place and sound, and surfaces are clean and free of dust and loose mortar. Stir the pail contents, then apply the compound directly over the bedding with a gauging or pointing trowel, working it firmly against both the ridge tile and the roof tile surfaces to a thickness of roughly 3-5mm. Tool off to a neat finish. Wash tools in warm water immediately after use. Coverage is approximately 2 lineal metres per litre, so a 10L pail points roughly 20-22 lineal metres of ridging depending on technique.
Important notes
Never add water to Tile Pointing. Cold (below 10°C), damp or humid conditions lengthen drying time, while hot, windy weather can significantly shorten working time — avoid application if rain is imminent.
