Description
The Empire Medium Carpenter Pencil 10 Pack gives you ten flat, anti-roll marking pencils for carpentry, building and general DIY, so there is always a spare in the toolbox or tool pouch. Each pencil has a thick medium core and a comfortable flat barrel that stays put where you set it down.
About the product
These are classic flat carpenter pencils with a thick HB core, made from FSC-certified timber that the manufacturer describes as sustainably sourced. The core is strong enough to mark rough timber without cracking, and it still gives a clear, easy-to-read line on smoother boards. Marks stay legible but can be rubbed out when you need to correct a measurement. The bright blue barrel makes each pencil easy to spot on a busy site or in a crowded toolbox.
Where to use it
Indoors: marking cut lines on framing timber, floorboards, skirtings and plasterboard, and laying out fixtures and fittings.
Outdoors: marking decking, fencing, pergola timber and other site work, where the flat shape helps stop the pencil rolling away.
Suitable surfaces include raw and rough timber, polished floorboards, stone and plasterboard.
How to use it
- Sharpen the tip with a utility knife, pencil knife or a dedicated carpenter pencil sharpener.
- Use the broad edge of the tip for a bold line on rough timber, or turn it on its narrow edge for a finer line on smoother surfaces.
- The flat, anti-roll barrel stays where you put it down between marks, and it gives a steady grip while you work.
- Keep a few in your tool pouch and the rest in the toolbox as spares.
Important notes
This is a graphite (HB) marking pencil, not a paint or chalk marker. Chalk is not included. Marks on very smooth, glossy or porous surfaces may behave differently, so test in a hidden spot if you want to be able to remove the line cleanly.
