Description
The Empire True Blue Magnetic Vari-Pitch Torpedo Level (EM81.12M) is a compact 305mm level made for tight spaces and pipe or conduit work. It combines a full-length magnetic edge, four easy-to-read vials and a tough aluminium frame, so it suits tradies and keen DIYers who want a dependable level in the toolbelt or toolbox.
About the product
The True Blue vials darken the outer edge of the bubble, which makes the reading clearer in bright or dim light. The vials are accurate to within 0.5mm/m in all 10 level working positions. Four vials give you plumb, level, 45 degree and Vari-Pitch readings. The Vari-Pitch vial reads slope in 10mm/m increments, which is handy for drainage falls and similar jobs. The frame is heavy-duty extruded aluminium for durability on busy job sites.
Where to use it
Indoors: levelling and plumbing fixtures, cabinetry hardware, shelving brackets, ducting and conduit runs, and general fit-out work in confined spots.
Outdoors: checking posts, pipe and conduit installations, brackets and fittings where a full-size level is too bulky.
How to use it
- Full-length magnetic edge holds the level on steel surfaces for hands-free reading.
- V-grooved working edge seats securely on pipe and conduit.
- Read the bubble against the plumb, level or 45 degree vial to check the angle.
- Use the Vari-Pitch vial to set a slope in 10mm/m increments.
- Place the level on a clean, flat working edge and read the vial straight on for the most accurate result.
Important notes
Keep the working edges clean and free of grit, filings or debris, as these can affect readings and magnetic contact. If the level is dropped hard, check it against a known true surface before relying on it. A case and chalk are not included. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

Care and storage
Wipe the level clean after use and keep the magnetic edge free of metal filings. Store it flat or hung up in a dry spot, away from heavy items that could knock or bend the frame. Avoid dropping it on hard surfaces to protect vial accuracy.
