Description
The Envirosafe European Wasp Trap is a reusable, Australian-made outdoor trap supplied with a food-grade bait sachet, designed to catch European wasps around barbecues, patios and play areas. The bait is formulated to appeal to European wasps while drawing fewer non-target insects such as flies and bees.
About the product
The bait is a powder made from non-toxic, food-grade ingredients, and it contains no insecticide. Stir it into water in the trap and it starts working almost straight away. Wasps are drawn to the scent, enter through the holes in the lid and are held in the liquid, so they can't escape. The sturdy plastic trap can be emptied, washed and re-baited many times. Replacement bait is sold separately.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for indoor use.
Outdoors: set it up around barbecue and alfresco areas, gardens and yards where European wasps are a nuisance. Place it away from eating areas and children's play areas.
How to use it
- Remove the label and the bait sachet from the trap.
- Tip the sachet contents into the trap, add lukewarm water as directed on the pack, then swirl to dissolve the bait.
- Refit the lid and place the trap outdoors, away from eating areas and play areas. Somewhere sunny and sheltered from wind tends to work best.
- Check the trap regularly and keep the water level topped up. It should not be allowed to dry out.
- Replace the bait every 2 to 3 weeks for best results.
- To empty, do it early in the morning before wasps become active. Check that all wasps inside are dead before opening. Dispose of the contents in a compost bin or kerbside waste bin, wash the trap thoroughly and re-bait.
Important notes
The bait is designed for European wasps and will not attract all wasp species, so identify what you have before setting the trap. Setting the trap a few weeks before you plan to entertain outdoors gives it time to reduce wasp numbers. Emptying the trap can be smelly, so wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards. This trap is for outdoor use only.
