Description
Fix-It-Fast Repair Tape is an aluminium-faced butyl flashing tape for quick, dependable waterproofing and leak repairs, supplied here as a wide 150mm x 5m roll. It suits DIYers and roofing or building trades who want a simple, self-adhesive way to seal flashings, gutters and damaged roof areas without mixing, heating or special tools.
About the tape
The tape pairs an aluminium top layer with a self-adhesive butyl backing protected by a release liner. This construction is designed for waterproofing and vapour sealing, and it is formulated to bond to virtually all non-porous building materials. The aluminium face is UV resistant, and the product is promoted for its excellent age resistance. The 150mm width covers larger repair areas in fewer passes than the narrower rolls in the range.
Where to use it
Indoors: vapour sealing and general waterproofing tasks on non-porous building materials where the tape will not be exposed to the weather.
Outdoors: flashing repairs, gutters, downpipes, cracked or damaged roofing, metal roof sheeting, sheds, skylights, caravans and boats.
Suitable materials include metal (including Colorbond), PVC, polycarbonate, fibreglass, timber and smooth masonry, provided the surface is clean, dry and free of dust and oils.
How to use it
Clean the surface thoroughly and make sure it is dry. Cut the tape to the length you need and peel away the release liner. Press the tape down firmly, working from the centre outwards to push out air pockets, then press the edges down so they are fully sealed. For best results, apply when the temperature is above 5°C.
Important notes
Adhesion is best on clean, dry, non-porous surfaces. If an area is wet, dry it as much as you can before applying the tape. Rough, dusty, oily or porous surfaces can reduce adhesion, so prepare them properly first. The manufacturer indicates the tape remains stable in service from about -40°C to 90°C. Check the repaired area from time to time to make sure the seal is holding.

Safety
Keep it away from young children, and wear gloves when handling the aluminium edges if you are cutting it. Store the roll in a cool, dry place out of direct sun. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
