Description
The Fix-It-Fast Roof Repair Kit for Metal Roofs & Gutters is a ready-to-go patch kit for stopping leaks in metal roofing and gutters, with everything needed for the repair packed together in one tube. It pairs a self-adhesive Smartform flashing patch with a brush-on Wet Shield compound, so a homeowner can seal a leak in roughly five minutes without specialist tools or a tradie callout.
About the formula
The kit is a three-part system: a 300mm x 300mm Smartform patch, a 125g tub of Fix-It-Fast Wet Shield and an application brush. Smartform is an ultra-thin, flexible flashing with an aluminium surface and a butyl backing, and it can stretch by up to 60% so it can follow corrugated and irregular metal profiles. Wet Shield is a resin-based, fibre-reinforced, solvent-based repair compound. It is brushed around the edges of the patch to help stop water tracking underneath and lifting it. It can be applied to wet or damp surfaces, bridges small cracks, dries to a flexible membrane that resists algae and fungal growth, and needs no primer on sound, non-porous surfaces.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for interior use.
Outdoors: patching leaks, splits and failed joins in metal roof sheeting (including corrugated and Colorbond profiles), gutters and valleys, and sealing around damaged flashing. It suits both residential and commercial maintenance jobs.
Designed mainly for metal roofing and gutters. For tiled roofs, Fix-It-Fast makes a separate Tile Roof kit with a reinforced Dakaflash patch.
How to use it
Clear loose debris, dirt, moss and algae from the repair area so the surface is sound and clean. Position the self-adhesive Smartform patch over the leak and press it down firmly so it conforms to the roof profile. Then brush Wet Shield around all the edges of the patch, overlapping onto the surrounding roof, to seal the perimeter and protect it from uplift. Once the Wet Shield has fully cured, it can be painted with an outdoor water-based acrylic paint if you want the repair to blend in. Keep the tub closed when not in use and follow the instructions supplied in the pack.
Important notes
A patch repair cannot fix a roof that is structurally unsound or unstable, so secure loose sheets and fixings first. The kit is built for localised repairs; for larger areas, Fix-It-Fast also sells flashing in longer lengths and Wet Shield in larger tins. Cure and recoat times are not confirmed here, so check the pack instructions. Wet Shield is solvent-based, so apply it in a well-ventilated outdoor area and keep it away from ignition sources.

Keep it away from heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources, and do not smoke while using it. Avoid breathing the vapours and wear protective clothing and eye and face protection.
