Description
FrogTape Delicate Surface Painter's Tape is a premium yellow washi paper masking tape for crisp paint lines on surfaces that can't cope with a stronger tape, supplied here as a single 24mm x 55m roll. Its lower adhesion level helps protect finishes such as freshly painted walls, coated wallpaper and decorative paint work, making it a sensible pick for stripes, feature walls and detailed edging.
About the formula
The tape has a thin washi paper backing and a synthetic rubber-based adhesive with low adhesion. The edges are treated with PaintBlock Technology, a super-absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and gels into a micro-barrier along the tape edge. This seals the edge against paint bleed so the paint line stays sharp and the need for touch-ups is reduced. The manufacturer describes the adhesive system as solvent-free, and the tape is designed to come away cleanly from indoor surfaces for up to 60 days.
Where to use it
Indoors: masking trims, skirting, door and window frames, cabinets and feature walls, plus decorative work such as stripes, faux finishes and artwork.
Outdoors: not recommended. This tape is intended for interior use only.
Recommended surfaces include finished wood, fresh paint, coated wallpaper, veneer, laminate, vinyl and primed drywall. Always test a small hidden area first to confirm compatibility with your surface and coating.
How to use it
Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, oil and dust. Press the tape down firmly along the edge so it sits flat, then paint with a latex paint, which is what PaintBlock Technology is designed to work with. For the sharpest result, peel the tape away while the paint is still wet, pulling back at a low angle. Store the roll in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Important notes
Allow freshly painted surfaces to dry before taping. The manufacturer's guidance is a minimum of 24 hours, so check the paint label as well. Test before use with solvent-based coatings, and check that it suits your floor surface before masking floors. Unprimed drywall is not recommended. For the cleanest removal, take the tape off promptly after painting rather than leaving it in place for the full 60 days.
