Description
The Gainsborough Mode Smart Deadbolt in Graphite is a slim, battery-powered keyless deadbolt that lets you unlock the door with a fingerprint, RFID tag, backlit keypad or the Gainsborough Forte app. It suits homeowners who want to ditch the key hunt and keep track of who comes and goes, and its modern profile sits neatly alongside matching pull handles, entry levers and knobs.
About the product
The Mode deadbolt has a zinc alloy body in a cool, subtle graphite finish. You can set up to 150 individual access codes, so family members, guests or tradies each get their own entry, and a history log helps you see who has used the lock. Auto-lock and passage modes are available, and the lock sends low battery notifications so you are not caught out. It is also described as weather resistant. For remote control and voice commands, add the Gainsborough Forte Wi-Fi bridge (sold separately) and the Forte app, which connect the lock with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
Where to use it
Indoors: internal doors that need secure locking, such as a home office, storage room or garage access door.
Outdoors: front, back and garage entry doors in a residential setting.
How to use it
- Unlock with a fingerprint, RFID smart tag, backlit keypad or the Gainsborough Forte mobile app.
- Create and manage up to 150 unique access codes.
- Turn on auto-lock or passage mode to suit your routine.
- Review entries in the history log.
- Pair with the Forte app and Wi-Fi bridge (sold separately) for remote control and smart home voice commands.
Installation follows the Gainsborough Mode deadbolt template. The bolt is set to a 60mm backset and can be changed to 70mm by rotating the bolt tail case 180 degrees while the bolt is retracted. You will need a tape measure, a 10mm drill bit, a 54mm hole saw, Phillips screwdrivers and a 25mm spade bit for timber doors (or a 25mm hole saw for metal doors). Use good quality alkaline batteries.
Important notes
Suits doors between 32mm and 55mm thick with a standard 54mm cross bore. The Wi-Fi bridge and Forte app features such as remote access and voice control need the bridge, which is not included. This lock is sold for residential use and is not rated as waterproof, so keep it free of pooling water and avoid direct hosing. Check your door and local requirements, including any fire-rated door rules, before installing.

Care and storage
Wipe the lock with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could mark the finish or keypad. Replace batteries when you receive a low battery notice, and use good quality alkaline cells only. Keep spare key tags in a safe place and review your access codes regularly. Store unused hardware in its pack in a dry spot.
