Description
The Gecko 25W Bug Zapper Lantern is a compact electric insect killer built for small and suburban backyards, patios and entertaining areas. It uses a UV lamp to draw in flying insects and a high-voltage grid to zap them, with a catcher tray underneath to collect the debris. It can be hung up or stood on a flat surface, so it is easy to position wherever you need it.
About the product
The housing is made from high impact plastic with a UV inhibitor to help it hold up outdoors. Inside is an Edison screw 25W UV lamp and a killing grid rated at about 2000V. The vertical grid is designed to be self-cleaning, and the lamp can be swapped without tools when it eventually needs replacing. The unit is built to meet Australian and New Zealand electrical safety standards.
Where to use it
Outdoors: covered patios, alfresco areas, decks and small to medium backyards where mosquitoes, moths and other flying insects spoil the evening. It is sold as an outdoor unit with IPX4 splash resistance, so it is not intended for indoor use.
How to use it
- Hang the lantern or stand it on a flat, stable surface, away from where people gather and eat.
- Make sure the removable catcher tray is fitted before switching on.
- Empty the tray regularly and keep the vertical grid clear of build-up.
- Replace the lamp with a matching 25W Edison screw UV lamp (Gecko lamp code GKOLT25G) when it fades.
Important notes
This is an electrical appliance with a live grid, so never touch the grid while the unit is connected to power. Always disconnect from power before emptying the tray, cleaning the grid or changing the lamp. Splash resistance (IPX4) does not mean the unit can be submerged or sprayed with a hose. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. A 12 month manufacturer warranty is stated on the Gecko website, and the lamp is a consumable part.

Care and storage
Disconnect from power and let the unit cool before emptying the catcher tray or cleaning the grid. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and keep the grid free of insect build-up. Keep the unit out of reach of children, and store it in a dry, protected spot when not in use.
