Description
The Gecko Solar-USB Rechargeable Zapper is a cordless, chemical-free insect zapper that doubles as a lantern, built for patios, camping trips and picnics. A UV LED draws flying insects in, and a rechargeable lithium battery lets you use it away from a power point.
About the product
The unit uses UV LED light to attract mosquitoes, moths and other flying insects, then deals with them on contact so they drop into the catcher tray below. The zapper function has an automatic on/off sensor, so there is no need to keep adjusting it. It can charge from the built-in solar panel or from a USB source, and a USB cable is included. Gecko rates the battery at up to 50 hours of runtime. The battery and lamp are sealed in and are not replaceable.
Where to use it
Indoors: in a dry, sheltered spot where you want to cut down on flying insects, such as a covered room or enclosed area.
Outdoors: small patios, balconies, caravan awnings, camp sites and picnic spots. The lantern can be hung up or stood on a flat surface.
How to use it
- Charge the unit with the supplied USB cable (roughly 3 to 5 hours) or leave it in bright sunshine so the solar panel can charge it.
- Choose zapper mode for insect control or lantern mode for light.
- Hang it up or stand it on a flat, stable surface, away from food and drink and out of the rain.
- When the catcher tray fills, switch the unit off, slide the tray out and empty it. Brush the unit clean with the included soft brush.

Important notes
Do not use the unit in wet weather. It is not designed to get wet. The battery and lamp cannot be replaced. It is meant for personal, portable use, so for larger areas consider a mains-powered zapper instead. The retailer data lists a coverage area of about 5 square metres, and results will vary with insect numbers and conditions. The unit meets Australian and New Zealand electrical safety standards.

Care and storage
Switch the unit off before emptying the tray or cleaning it, and do not touch the grid while it is operating. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, and keep it dry at all times. Store it indoors in a cool, dry place when not in use, and recharge it now and then if it is stored for long periods.
