Gyprock Wet Area Acrylic Sealant 450g (White)

Description

Gyprock Wet Area Acrylic Sealant is a white, paintable acrylic sealant made for bathrooms, laundries and other wet area builds, supplied here as a single 450g tube. It is designed to give plasterboard and wet area linings a long-lasting, flexible seal where they meet shower bases, baths and plumbing fittings, and it also works as a general purpose gap filler.

About the formula
A ready-to-use acrylic sealant that stays flexible once cured, so it can move with the joint instead of cracking. It contains an antifungal agent to help resist mould and mildew, and it has moisture resistant properties for use in damp rooms. It can be painted over once fully cured. It is manufactured in Australia for CSR Gyprock.

Where to use it
Indoors: sealing the edge of Gyprock Aquachek wet area lining against pre-formed shower bases and baths, sealing around plumbing penetrations and fittings, and filling general gaps and junctions in bathrooms, laundries and other damp areas.
It suits both residential and commercial construction. It is intended for non-fire-rated wet area systems.

Suitable materials include Hebel, concrete, masonry, brickwork, plasterboard, fibre cement, metal, timber and plastic substrates (test plastics on a small area first).

How to use it
Make sure the joint or gap is clean, sound and free of dust, grease and loose material before you start. Cut the nozzle to suit the size of the joint, run a continuous bead and press it into the gap so it contacts both sides. Smooth the joint, and keep your tools clean while you work. Let the sealant cure fully before you paint over it. Unopened tubes should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and below 30°C. Opened tubes may skin over near the opening, so discard any lump or skin and the remaining sealant can still be used.

Important notes
This sealant is not designed for constant water exposure or for stopping active leaks. Do not paint until it is fully cured. It is not an easy-sanding product. Shelf life is 1 year from the date of manufacture. The manufacturer does not publish set, cure or coverage figures for this tube, so allow plenty of time before showering or painting and check the label for current directions.
