Description
Ideal DIY Floors Indoor / Outdoor Carpet Tape is a double-sided adhesive tape for fixing marine carpet, synthetic grass and utility carpet, supplied here as a single 38mm x 12.8m roll. It suits jobs where the carpet is exposed to moisture and weather, such as boats, patios and outdoor areas, as well as general indoor carpet fixing.
About the tape
This is a double-sided adhesive tape built on a tear-resistant fibreglass carrier, so it holds together when you unroll and position it. The manufacturer describes it as water resistant, mildew resistant and rot proof, which is what you want when carpet sits in damp or exposed spots. It is designed to grip well on rough surfaces, provided they are clean.
Where to use it
Indoors: securing utility carpet and similar floor coverings to clean, rough surfaces.
Outdoors: fixing marine carpet, synthetic grass and outdoor utility carpet where weather resistance matters.
It is intended for use with marine carpets, synthetic grass and utility carpets. Test a small area first if your carpet backing or floor surface is unusual.
How to use it
Clean the surface so it is free of dust, dirt, oil, grease and loose material, and make sure it is dry. Work within the recommended application temperature range. Cut the tape to length, stick it down along the area to be fixed, and press it firmly along its full length. Then lay the carpet or turf into place and press it down firmly so it contacts the tape evenly.
Important notes
Apply the tape between 10°C and 30°C. The supplied product data lists this tape as not UV resistant, so consider this for areas in constant, direct sun. Rough surfaces need to be clean for the adhesive to perform at its best. Dusty, oily or loose surfaces will weaken the hold. Check suitability on your specific carpet backing and surface before committing to a large job.
