Description
Irwin Strait-Line Permanent Marking Chalk in black is a staining chalk for snap lines and layout marks that need to stay put, supplied as a single 6oz squeeze bottle. It leaves dark, easy-to-see lines on common building surfaces, and the marks stay readable through weeks of weather and jobsite wear.
About the product
A powder marking chalk made for chalk line reels, sold in a squeeze bottle with a flip-top cap. The cap seals the chalk in an airtight chamber, which keeps moisture out and cuts down on clumping. A Hi-Flow nozzle cap makes refilling a reel quicker and cleaner. Because the chalk stains the surface, you usually don't need a spray sealant to lock the line in.
Where to use it
Indoors: framing, subfloor and wall layout on surfaces that will be covered, painted or trimmed over, where a permanent line is fine.
Outdoors: site and slab layout, decking and fence setout, roofing and sheeting lines, and any marking job where rain, sun and foot traffic would wipe off a standard dust-off chalk.
Suitable surfaces include timber, plasterboard, concrete, stone and metal.
How to use it
- Open the flip-top cap and fit the nozzle into the fill opening of your chalk line reel.
- Squeeze the bottle gently to fill the reel, then close the cap firmly.
- Wind the line out, pull it taut and snap it to leave a bold black mark.
- Close the flip-top after every use so the chalk stays dry and free-flowing.
Important notes
This is a permanent staining chalk, so the marks are designed to last and can be hard to remove. Do not use it on finished, visible surfaces you want to keep clean, and test an offcut first if you are unsure. Choose a dust-off chalk for temporary marks. Chalk line reel not included.
