Description
Kinetic Sink Sealing Tape is a flexible, self-adhesive foam tape for the join between a sink and the benchtop, supplied here as a handy 4 roll assorted pack. It is used underneath the sink rim to help protect the benchtop and stop leaks working their way under the bench.
About the product
This is a black foam tape rather than a wet-applied sealant, so there is no cartridge, caulking gun or mess involved. The flexible foam is designed to sit in the gap under the rim of the sink. The pack includes two different profiles, so you can pick the one that suits the rim of your sink or basin: two rolls of 8mm x 8mm x 2m and two rolls of 10mm x 4mm x 2m.
Where to use it
Indoors: under the rim of kitchen sinks, laundry tubs and bathroom basins that sit on a benchtop, as a barrier between the sink and the bench surface.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use. Use it for under-sink installations only.
Suitable for fitting under drop-in style sink and basin rims. Check that the tape profile suits your sink rim before fitting.
How to use it
Clean and dry the underside of the sink rim so it is free of dust, grease and old sealant. Cut the tape to length, then peel off the backing and press it firmly into place around the rim, keeping it continuous with no gaps at the corners or joins. Lower the sink into position and secure it as directed by the sink manufacturer. Always follow any instructions printed on the pack as well.
Important notes
Choose the profile that fits the rim of your sink best, and cut a little extra length so the run is fully covered, as small sinks can still need more than one roll. Keep the product away from heat and store it in a cool, dry place. Cure times, temperature limits and chemical resistance have not been confirmed by the manufacturer, so test in an inconspicuous spot if you have any doubts about compatibility with your sink or bench material.
